purity, yield percent, reaction rates, enthalpy, entropy changes during chemical reaction.

1. Overall Aims of Course After completing this course the student should gain several competencies in the
area of qualitative inorganic chemistry that would enable him to work the
different related field of analysis (forensic chemistry ,water analysis,
environmental pollution),to be able to apply previously known analytical methods
in the different areas of inorganic analysis,and to provide the students with a
quantitative sense in chemical analysis as well as adequate knowledge on
volumetric analysis includingAcid-base reactions (in aqueous and non - aqueous
media).

a1- Recognize qualitative inorganic analysis and the chemical reactions
involved.
a2- Describe methods of separation and identification of anions and cations.
a3- Understand fundamentals of analytical chemistry.
a4- Recognize methods of handling of basic analytical tools.
a5-Explain analytical data.
a6-Descibe theories of acid- base reactions in aqueous and non aqueous media with
focusing on their application on the analysis of pharmaceutical substances.
b- Intellectual Skills
By the end of this course, the student should be able to: b1- Asses in the judgement on the suitable scheme for the systematic examination of
cations as well as anions either in simple mixture or in special admixtures producing
difficulties.
b2-Analyze the application of statistical treatment on the analytical results and data.
b3- Select solvingequilibria problems e.g. calculation of different ionic species
(pH, pOH, pNa …etc).
b4- Asses the result of calculation of different physical constants (pKw, pka,pKb…etc)
to solve analytical problems.
c- Professional and Practical Skills:
By the end of the course, the student should be able to: c1- Apply the given schemes for identification of anions and cations.

The aim of the course is to provide students with the basis of the different methods of instrumental analysis. The course also qualifies the students to make use of the knowledge of analytical chemistry to be able to analyze water.

Intended Learning Outcomes of Course (ILOs) a- Knowledge and Understanding: By the end of the course, the students should be able to: a1- know and use potentiometry in analytical chemistry. a2- Understand UV. Visible spectrophotometry. a3- Identify Luminescence spectrometry mainly spectroflourimetry. a4- Realize flame emission and atomic absorption. a5- Understand the application of different techniques in the analysis of water to be aware of the validity of water to suit different purposes.
b- Intellectual Skills
By the end of this course, the student should be able to: b1- Distinguish the most suitable methods for the analysis of pharmaceutical compounds. b2- Categorize methods for determination of certain compound in a multicomponents mixture. b3- Interpret the outcomes of different experiments
c- Professional and Practical Skills:
By the end of the course, the student should be able to: c1- Practice sample analysis with minimum guidance in laboratories dealing with quality control in pharmaceutical industries. c2-Analyze pharmaceuticals & chemical substances. c3-Analyze water samples. d- General and Transferable Skills
By the end of the course, the student should be able to: d1- Practice independently in different quality control labs. d2-Evaluate and make decision to deal with different qualitative or quantitative analytical problems in pharmaceutical and biomedical fields. d3- Develop different written skills for reports or assay with standard scientific guidelines learned from this course .
