Organization Development (OD) is a planned approach to improve employee and organizational effectiveness by conscious interventions in those processes and structures that have an immediate bearing on the human aspect of the organization.

Organizational Entry
How does OD program start?
Organizational problem/issue must occur A member of an organization or unit must
contact an OD practitioner about potential help in addressing an organizational issue.
Who are the parties?
Organization OD practitioner Stakeholders(government, employees,
customers, suppliers, creditors, community, trade unions, owners, and investors)
System(1) culture, (2) work processes, (3) communication, and (4) rewards
For whom is it for?
Organization’s success
Who are involved?
Stakeholders(government, employees, customers, suppliers, creditors, community, trade unions, owners, and investors)
When do OD programs and processes start?
An OD process generally starts when a member of an organization or unit contacts an OD practitioner about potential help in addressing an organizational issue.

Before entering into OD relationship, the 2 parties have to:
clarify the organizational issue determine the relevant team members of the
organization test the appropriateness of the OD practitioner
Before proceeding to the contract:
Organization (client) may
gather information about the practitioner’s competence and experience
present the problems(specific/ general) examine the appropriateness of the OD
practitioner
OD practitioner (change agent) may
collect preliminary data about the organization examine the presented problems(specific/
general) examine company records interview a few key members determine the relevant team members of the
organization
Contracting
Two types of contracts
1. formal2. informal
