What is learning sciences?
Learning Sciences is the study of how people learn. Findings from Learning Sciences are often used to guide the design of instructional practices and learning environments that enable e�ective learning. Learning Sciences as a �eld of study focuses on promoting instructional practices grounded on the scienti�c understanding of how humans learn.
Research in Learning Sciences centres on understanding the complexities of human learning and thinking, and it explores how knowledge acquisition takes place in a variety of formal and informal real life settings.
Learning Sciences looks into how learning can be improved and enhanced, by considering the potentials of emerging technologies to sca�old for meaningful learning.
It looks into issues, problems or challenges that learners of all ages face, through the lenses of cognitive science, socio-cultural studies, and educational psychology.

The part-time mode is normally 4 to 8 years (only o�ered to local students).
The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree is a research degree by thesis under the supervision of an experienced member of academic sta� or a supervisory panel. A panel is made up of graduate sta� and experts from either within or outside the University.
The academic progress of a research student is evaluated twice a year through the progress reports. Final assessment is through thesis and a viva-voce examination.
A student who has satis�ed the Examination Committee for Postgrad-uate Studies in all aspects of their work is eligible for the award of the degree of Doctor of Philosophy.
