Hi. I’m Phil
I’m a volunteer director of the
DataPortability Project
We’re concerned about two things
1. Getting to a future where our onlife is
always with us everywhere we go
2.Rebalancing power between web site operators and the people they serve
Privacy policies were created when everything a service did
was located on one server
Privacy policies reflect the simplicity of two parties:
Client and Server, User and Company
That’s sooo 1995
Today: services build on other
services
In turn, services are platforms for other services
What used to be on one disk drive in one data center run by one company is now everywhere
Users don’t know it
So the first step to a data portability world is
disclosure
PortabilityPolicy.org
