Philadelphia is 40 ° 00 'north latitude and 75 ° 09' west longitude. According to the Office of the U.S. Census, the city has a total area of 142.6 miles square (369.3 km2), of which 135.1 miles square (349.9 km2) is land and 7.6 square miles (19 , 7 km2), or 5.29%, is water. Bodies of water include the Schuylkill and Delaware Rivers, and Cobbs, Wissahickon, Pennypack and streams.

It was conquered by British people in 1674. In 1681, the British king Carl II sent a letter to William Penn, who was a very important man in the conquering of the United States because he belonged to a religious group. Willian Penn founded the city of Philadelphia the 27th of October in 1682. And he made Philadelphia a political center.
