This LCD prod�uct has a hig�h number of color pix�els. 1�1 SafetyRisk of electric shock or fire!•

Never ex�pose the TV� to rain or w�ater. •Never place liquid� containers, such as vases, near the TV�. If liquid�s are spilt on or into the TV�, d�isconnect the TV� from the pow�er outlet immed�iately�. Contact Philips to have the TV� checked� before use.

Never place the TV�, remote control or •batteries near naked� flames or other heat sources, includ�ing� d�irect sunlig�ht.

To prevent the spread� of fire, keep •cand�les or other flames aw�ay� from this prod�uct at all times.

Never insert objects into the ventilation •slots or other opening�s on the TV�.

When the TV� is sw�ivelled�, ensure that •no strain is ex�erted� on the pow�er cord�. Strain on the pow�er cord� can loosen connections and� cause arcing�.

1�2 Screen careAvoid� stationary� imag�es as much as •possible. Stationary� imag�es are imag�es that remain on-screen for ex�tend�ed� period�s of time. Ex�amples includ�e: on-screen menus, teletex�t pag�es, black bars, stock market information, TV� channel log�os and� time d�isplay�s. If y�ou must use stationary� imag�es, red�uce screen contrast and� brig�htness to avoid� screen d�amag�e.

Unplug� the TV� before cleaning�.•

Clean the TV� and� frame w�ith a soft, d�amp •cloth. Never use substances such as alcohol, chemicals or household� cleaners on the TV�.

4 Get startedThis section helps y�ou position and� install the TV�.

4.1 Position the TV

In ad�d�ition to read�ing� and� und�erstand�ing� the safety� instructions in Section 1.1, consid�er the follow�ing� before positioning� y�our TV�:

The id�eal view�ing� d�istance for w�atching� TV� •is three times its screen size.

Position the TV� w�here lig�ht d�oes not fall on •the screen.

Connect y�our d�evices before y�ou position •y�our TV�.

• Your TV� is equipped� w�ith a Kensing�ton Security� Slot at the back of the TV�.

If connecting� an anti-theft Kensing�ton lock (not supplied�), position the TV� w�ithin reach of a permanent object (such as a table) that can be easily� attached� to the lock.

Step 1 Purchase a VESA-compatible wall bracket

4�3 Connect the antenna cable

Locate the 1. TV ANTENNA connector at the back of the TV�.

Connect one end� of an antenna cable 2. (not supplied�) to the TV ANTENNA connector. Use an ad�aptor if the antenna cable d�oes not fit

Connect the other end� of the antenna 3. cable to y�our antenna outlet, ensuring� that the cable is tig�htly� secured� at both end�s.

Connect the mains cord4�4

WARNING BV�erify� that y�our mains voltag�e correspond�s w�ith the voltag�e printed� at the back of the TV�. Do not insert the mains cord� if the voltag�e is d�ifferent.

To connect the mains cord

Note DThe location of the mains connector varies accord�ing� to TV� mod�el.

Locate the 1. AC IN mains connector at the back or on the bottom of the TV�.

Connect the mains cord� to the 2. AC IN mains connector.

Connect the mains cord� to the mains, 3. ensuring� that the cord� is tig�htly� secured� at both end�s.

WARNING CBefore y�ou connect the TV� to the pow�er outlet, ensure that the pow�er voltag�e matches the value printed� und�er the cable cover. To easily� d�isconnect the TV� from the pow�er outlet, ensure that y�ou have full access to the pow�er cord� at all times. When y�ou d�isconnect the pow�er cord�, alw�ay�s pull the plug�, never the cable.

4�5 Insert the remote control batteries

Note DRemote control is not supplied�. Purchase remote control no. 22AV�1105/10 from a Philips authorized� supplier.

Slid�e the battery� cover off the back of the 1. remote control.

Insert the tw�o supplied� batteries (Size AAA, 2. Ty�pe LR03). Be sure the + and� - end�s of the batteries line up w�ith the marking�s insid�e the case.

Slid�e the cover back into position.3.

Tip ERemove the batteries if not using� the remote control for an ex�tend�ed� period� of time.

4�6 Prepare TV for digital services

Scrambled� d�ig�ital TV� channels can be d�ecod�ed� w�ith a Cond�itional Access Mod�ule, inserted� w�ith a smart card� (CAM) provid�ed� by� a d�ig�ital TV� service operator.

The CAM may� enable several d�ig�ital services, d�epend�ing� on the operator and� services y�ou choose (for ex�ample, pay� TV�). Contact y�our d�ig�ital TV� service operator for more information about services and� terms.

Using the 4�6�1 Conditional Access Module

WARNING BSw�itch off y�our TV� before inserting� a CAM. Be sure to follow� the instructions d�escribed� below�. Wrong� insertion of a CAM may� d�amag�e both the CAM and� y�our TV�.

Follow�ing� the d�irections printed� on the 1. CAM, g�ently� insert the CAM into the Common Interface slot on the sid�e of the TV�.

Push the CAM in as far as it w�ill g�o.2.

Sw�itch on the TV� and� w�ait for the CAM to 3. be activated�. This may� take several minutes.

Note DDo not remove the CAM from the slot. Removing� the CAM w�ill d�eactivate the d�ig�ital services.

4�6�2 Access CAM services

Enter 1. SETUP menu.

Press 2. ï to select CONFIGURATION > SECURITY.

Press 3. ï to select CI CARD and� Æ to select YES.

The TV does not communicate with external interactive terminal:

Picture performance not at its optimum when using VGA or EXT 3 source

The character 'F' appears on the TV screen�

This means that the TV� is currently� in factory� mod�e.

Press and� hold� the • MENU button at the sid�e of the TV� or a few� second�s. This w�ill reset the TV� to normal operation.

No respond from TV when using guest mode remote control�

This means that security� has been set to HIGH.

Select • CONFIGURATION > SECURITY. Set SECURITY to STANDARD.
