Philosophy of Nursing 1. Health Health is individuals mental, emotional, and physical well being. Achieving and maintain good health is an ongoing process, shaped by practices and interventions like maintaining healthy food choices that are rich in nutrients to help build and strengthen the body. Exercise on a regular basis is important to maintain physical fitness overall wellness of the mind and body. Health is dynamic, an individual’s health status can change positively or negatively at any time and it is up to the individual to sustain it. 2. Nursing Nursing is a profession in which the nurse cares for patients to achieve the best possible outcome for them. Patients and their families put all their trust in nurses to be up to date with the best practice. Nursing means treating you colleagues and patients with dignity, kindness, respect, and compassion. Nursing to me most importantly means being accountable for my decisions, my actions, and myself. I will contribute to the nursing profession through my passion and commitment to actively support my colleagues and patients with autonomy. Nursing will never be “just a job” to me; it is my willingness to make a positive change in our society. 3. Clients The patient is the central, most important aspect of nursing. They are the center of any interventions being implemented. Clients are individuals, families, groups, communities, and populations. The patients that I care for can be of any age from different walks of life and each and every one of them should be treated equally. It is my responsibility to ensure client safety, provide care that meets their needs, and maintain a therapeutic relationship.

3. ClientsThe patient is the central, most important aspect of nursing.

4. EnvironmentThe environment I wish to work in will be with a team that is patient focused. The work environment significantly impacts patient outcomes, which makes it critical than ever to create and maintain healthy work environments. I believe that a healthy nursing environment needs to be adequately staffed with professionals that are willing to support and help one another. The workplace has a huge impact in my practice as a nurse in which I expect my colleagues to act honestly, ethically, and professionally.
