Hijacking brand names of banks, e-retailers and credit card companies, phishers often convince recipients to respond. Technical subterfuge schemes plant crimeware onto PCs to steal credentials directly..."

Phishing, unfortunately, is on the rise. It is infact a computer world story that does not exist in the world physically.

In other words a bogus story to make money.

What is mean by phishing on the internet?

What is spoofed E-mail?

An E-mail containing such a data through which thousand of people can be addressed without any name and address and incomplete information about user and the company where it came from.

How to identify scams?

E-mail claims that the recipient has won a large sum of money in a lottery draw organized by Microsoft, Yahoo and Google, etc………..

Fraud

Story of bank locker E-mail about the bank locker’s gold and the bank has doubt about the ownership of the locker and then about some documents and processing fee to confirm the ownership.

Maybe you've received an email from Nigeria seeking your help in the transfer of money. Or maybe your "bank" has asked for your social security number...

Property ScamsE-mail containing that through electronic draw and such wording “we are pleased to announce you that you are lucky to win the house or property located at some place, please send us the completed information and address”.

Scam E-mail containing a letter from U.S.A official department that your name has been announced for Green Card or any reward of amount 10,0000$ by computerized lottery scheme. So, please send us the following information, Last date ………., Don't wait, You are lucky…… Just a step away……

Job scam letter

1. They list a salary or hourly wage that seems too good to be true or too specific like $13.64 – 34.23 / hour.

2. They list it as a government job. 3. They post a job with a title that doesn’t match the

description. 4. They use strange sentences or misspellings. 5. A search for that job title in Google – example “Admin

Assistant Craig’s List” and comes up in many other cities with the exact same job post. Because Craig’s List is free – they can easily post the same bogus job post in every city.

What to do ?• Don't reply to or click links in emails or pop-up

messages asking for personal or financial information.

• Use updated anti-virus software and a firewall. • Be cautious about opening attachments or

downloading files from emails. • And remember, if anyone urges you to help

them transfer money out of Nigeria, there's only one proper response: DELETE .

Update yourself There are certain website who keeps you informing about the latest threat at internet, virus threat, E-mail Scams, and other alarms about your safety and your computer safety.

Search the email wordings on GoogleCopy a sentence from the email and search on

google. You will easily find out the scam/fraud details posted on different forums and websites.
