These connectors are equivalent to Raychem DK-621 series connectors and utilize a Solder Tac® equivalent contact, Phoenix Logistics’ own Solder Tack System (STS) contacts. They feature high corrosion resistive finishes that provide environmental sealing for the interconnect system and easy to assemble contacts and housings. The bayonet and threaded designs coupled with the polarity of the contact offer 20 different keying arrangements.

Our connectors have been qualified on a variety of major US Military programs including: J-STARS, UH-60, C-17, FA-18.

Phoenix Logistics also offers other types of data bus connectors with keying options of up to 50 configurations.

Phoenix Logistics designed, developed, and currently produces program specific contacts which cover a wide frequency spectrum.

We entered this market to meet customer concerns regarding price and availability of unique contacts that have been worked into a program and become specified commodities for that program. For many of these contacts, there was only one supplier, leaving many programs vulnerable to the vagaries of a single supplier.

Such has been the case with Solder Tacs® provided by TYCO (Raychem Corporation). Phoenix Logistics developed STS Contacts which are the equivalent to D602-126 and D602-127 contacts. Phoenix Logistics has also designed replacements for discontinued Raychem Solder Tacs®.

We utilized the same approach to create equivalent contacts to Radiall EPX® Triaxial contacts. In this case, development was driven by C-17 Globemaster cost reductions.

Phoenix Logistics, Inc. has also developed Microwave Contacts utilizing a moldable plastic with a dielectric constant equivalent to Teflon®.

Phoenix Logistics has long been a primary user of Raychem (Tyco) Solder Tacs®. They are widely specified and well known as a reliable system of contact attachment. Because of the volume of our own use, Phoenix Logistics found it advantageous to develop its own unique Solder Tack System (STS) of equivalent contacts.

Through involvement in a number of different airborne programs, Phoenix Logistics discovered that many airborne systems prefer crimp contacts to solder contacts. To meet this demand, we developed a unique Crimp Tack System (CTS) contact.

The reality of constrained budgets and cost reductions often dictate that Military Aerospace programs utilize systems well beyond their intended life span. Our experience has shown that the older the system is, the more dif-ficult it is to obtain mission critical components. Often the original component manufacturer is no longer interested in supporting the program or no longer in business. Obsolescence, low volume production runs, and lack of legacy engineering expertise all become obstacles that must be overcome to sustain a program beyond its intended life span.

We are experienced in:

Program Management

Acceptance Testing

Qualification Testing

Chassis Fabrication

Multi Layer Circuit Card Assy

Re-Engineering

Document Control

Through knowledgeable manufacturing services and innovative techniques such as acquisition of obsolete product lines and low volume spares and repairs management, Phoenix Logistics overcomes these obstacles and provides mission critical components and solutions to support legacy systems.

We specialize in low volume production, efficient management of low volume spares, and redesign, replacement, repair, and upgrade of obsolete high frequency components and systems.

Our services are designed to supplement OEM services to the end customer and we also provide these services directly to end-use customers including foreign governments. Phoenix Logistics directly supports the program and the customer for the life of the program and beyond.

Our expertise and years of experience in complete product life cycle management of high frequency data transmission systems allows us to extend the useful life of legacy systems, while at the same time lowering program costs and maintaining a guaranteed return on investment for the original manufacturer.

Legacy Systems Life ExtensionSpares, Repairs, and Obsolescence Management

Spares and repairs are a critical issue with low volume legacy systems. Often the original system is no longer in production, and finding a suitable supplier is next to impossible. Systems and components are often so dated that no one seems to know how to repair them anymore.

At Phoenix Logistics we specialize in managing spares and repairs for low vol-ume, high-frequency legacy systems. We identify the critical components of each system and set up a team dedicated to the design, manufacture, repair and/or replacement of these components. When possible we populate the team with some of the original engineering talent that designed the system, and dedicate them to serving field support for the system. Our services includes full ECO activity, design, reverse engineering, upgrades, and replacement of obsolete components.

Through acquisition of obsolete product lines, in support of specific Military Aerospace legacy systems, we provide comprehensive support to maintain systems beyond their expected life span.

Phoenix Logistics acquires the product line, establishes customer service — including the design and manufacture of obsolete components — and depending on the structure of the product line acquisition, often returns a royalty payment to the original owner.

Our reputation for solving problems related to obsolete components started in the early 1990’s when F-16 program personnel identified a critical shortage of connectors due to a supplier filing bankruptcy. We designed, developed, fully qual-tested, and produced production quantities of 31 different connectors in less than one year. To this day we continue to produce these and other connectors in support of the F-16 program.

In the mid 1990’s, we acquired a line of microwave cable assemblies from Raychem Corporation in order to support several defense programs. We acquired the Metcal high frequency soldering unit product line solely to support the E-8C Joint Stars Aircraft. One of our largest acquisitions was the manufacturing rights to a full ship-based ECM system that was designed in the mid 1980’s.

Acquisition of obsolete product lines is just one more way Phoenix Logistics provides innovative solutions to the challenge of supporting legacy systems through their life and beyond.
