In the Gallery

APRIL 7–MAY 28Wisconsin ArtsWest 40Wisconsin ArtsWest, the library’s annual juried art exhibit, will open on Sunday, April 7, with a reception for the artists to be held on Thursday, April 11, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Best of Show and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes will be announced at the reception. The program begins at 7:30 p.m. Jurors for ArtsWest 40 are Franklin Zetzman, professor at UW–Madison, and Lynn Zetzman, director of Aylward Gallery, UW–Fox Valley.

The first ArtsWest show opened September 12, 1979. With ArtsWest Two in April 1981, it became a spring show and has been held annually since then. Since its inception, ArtsWest has provided a venue for thousands of artists to exhibit their talent and creativity, as well as the opportunity for everyone in the community to experience and support the arts in a uniquely personal way.

FEBRUARY 3–MARCH 25A ReRETROSPECTIVE Exhibit by Mark Anderson

The paintings in this exhibit represent a collection of ideas created from observing things that people generally ignore in everyday life. They are based on Mark Anderson's travels to New York, Chicago, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, and around the Eau Claire area. His work covers a wide variety of subject matter including calligraphic shapes, architectural forms, still life, and semi-abstract portraits of people and nature in a vast palette of colors. Mark is a longtime resident of Wisconsin.
