Introduction Phonology the study of the pattern of speech sounds used in a particular language One of most important part of the language as it is the medium of oral communication It is essential for every speaker to acquire phonological knowledge because language learning is a continuous processArgument 1 Determines how words and the parts of the words called morphemes are pronounced. Often, certain morphemes are pronounced differently depending on their context, and speakers will introduce a way of describing this variation with phonological rules e.g. Singular versus plural forms Ensure the clarity of the spoken language used by the speakers which enable effective communication among the speakers of the language.
