Phonogram Jungle BingoPracticing phonograms is a lot more fun when you have jungle-themed Bingo boards! Help your child review (and master!) phonograms with the help of monkeys, lions, and other jungle inhabitants. But be careful –it’s a jungle out there!

Assembly Instructions

1. Print pages 3-6 (color version) or pages 7-10 (black-and-white version). You may choose to use the 9-square or 16-square Bingo boards. Print additional game boards as needed.

2. Determine which phonograms your child needs to review. Gather the Phonogram Cards from your child’s Reading or Spelling Review Box and write each phonogram on a blank space on your child’s game board.

3. Gather items to use as game markers, such as popcorn, raisins, mini marshmallows, or Bingo chips. Give game markers to each player.

Optional: For repeated use, laminate your game boards and use an erasable marker to write the phonograms.

How to Play

1. Begin by having your child place a game marker on the “free” space.

2. Explain that you are going to dictate a sound and encourage your child to search the game board to locate the phonogram that makes that sound. When your child locates the phonogram, he or she should place a marker on that space.

3. Continue dictating phonograms until your child has completed a row (horizontally, vertically, or diagonally) on the game board, then say “BINGO!” together.

Variation

Let your child be the bingo caller, using the phonogram cards to dictate the sounds while you play the game.
