Vizier implementation

– IVOA note was produced to describe how to include photometry characterization in groups in a catalog VOTable response

– This can be used for Cone Search and TAP services

– Relevant utypes of the Photometry DM WD are used so applications can handle the photometric information

– More than 200 catalogs are being adapted in Vizier to include this information (acknowledge to F. Ochsenbein and S. Derriere) (ASU syntax for queries)

– Some of them have been already included in VOSpec as a proof of concept

VOSpec implementation

Pending improvements in VOSpec

– Integrate version with the recent services updates. No major problem is expected as neither FPS nor Cone Searches have reported problems during the update to latest DM version (Required)

– Explore new vizier service features (A real nice to have)

– Discover cone search (TAP?) services from the registry by using the photometry capability (Capability not defined and changes expected in registry) (Nice to have)

– Develop specific registry navigation of cone search services (Nice to have)

– Explore Filter Profile Service interface with a dedicated panel (This can be done already although it would be better to have a Filter Profile Service protocol defined)

– As soon as we have a stable Spectrum 1.2, adapt SSAP/Spectrum parser to consume photometric information (Future feature)

Photometry DM 1.0 (II)

– New version 1.0 (13/10/2011) under author list discussion

– This version includes two types of changes:

– “Introduction” and “Astronomical Photometry” sections updated

– Some minor changes in the model itself (only some utypes and description updates in line with other IVOA data models)

– Pending: Find possible optical-biased terms in the text. Preliminary analysis shows that this does not produce implementation problems

– Integrate the different updated implementations

– Distribution to the working group and external reviewers (extra effort is required)

– If no major problems are found in the model, start RFC process


Other specifications pending issues

– Describe the photometry capability so cone search or TAP services can be properly registered and discovered (not necessary for PhotDM although useful)

– Describe Filter Profile Service as a separate note (work to be done in coordination with DAL group)

– Follow-up of Spectrum 1.2 evolution (that will include PhotDM utypes)
