Photo 3 Photo 4 Photo 5 Writing Prompt: Choose one image from Truce on page
15, 23, 30, 32, or 40. Examine the image carefully. Keep in mind the information you have recently read about
World War I (the causes of the war, conditions soldiers lived in, the type of fighting that took place…) Then, write a narrative story in letter format in 1st person.
Pretend you are the person you see on the page. Also remember the narrative elements we studied (refer
back to your notes as needed) and the paragraph lesson from Monday. Be sure your story includes a plot,
conflict, point of view, and setting. Use description and
details to bring this person’s story to life.
Brainstorming / planning your Truce narrative letter:
● Choose 1 picture and identify which picture you have chosen (refer to the specific picture number, 1-5)
● Show / don’t tell & remember to use strong adjectives and verbs. Look at the handouts in the Resources section of your Writer’s Notebook.
● Include sights, sounds, emotions, conflicts/problem, WWI historical information (accuracy)
● Use 1st person Point of View
● ← Use a letter format (see examples))
Write your letter on the next page.
