Photo Editing with Pixlr

Pixlr is like Photoshop and you can do amazing things with pictures. You have 4 options as what you can do:

1) You can create a new image.

2) You can open an image from your computer

3) You can open an image with using URL.

4) (Requires an account) You can reach your images in the cloud system of Pixlr.

Here are the different tools you can use on Pixlr. Use this as a key as we learn how to do editing.

Go to www.pixlr.com and select Advanced Pixlr E.

2) Click to the Image Button on the upper panel, then press Image Size

3) A board should come out which asks you the Width and Height of the new image and there is a box which helps to change it properly. You may unchecked the box near it but, the quality of the image will break down. The current size of my image is 1920x1080 and I will change it to 1000x563 (computer suggested the height according to the new width)

Resizing Images

5) Then use the blue boxes to expand and narrow the image size as needed.

6) After narrowing the image size background will be white as a frame. To remove this use the crop tool.

4) Click the Edit tab, then click the Free Transform (Shortcut: CTRL + T)

1) Open an image from URL or Computer

2) Select the Crop Tool

3) Select the part that you want to keep (not the part you want to remove)

4) You can expand or narrow the Crop size by using the Blue Boxes. 5) Click somewhere else except the image and click Yes button in the confirm box.

How to Change the Eye Color in Pixlr

5) Go to Edit and Click Copy (Ctrl + C)

6) Open a new empty layer from the Layer Menu on the right of the screen and middle of the Navigator and History Menu. You can open a new layer by clicking the + symbol.

1) Open Pixlr

4) After getting a clear eye image use the Lasso tool (L) to surround the eye. It can be hard to do that at first but your hand will get used to it.

3) If the eye is not so clear try to change the image size or zoom in to the eye. It is not necessary for my pic-ture. You can use the Zoom Tool (Z) or Change the image size which is Lesson 2.

Changing the eye color in the image is a simple however, there are few tricks. I will highlight them to reduce the incorrect moves. Of course, we have very friendly, helpful tool which is Undo (Ctrl + Z).

2) Open an image which has a clear eye color. I will use the image in this URL:

11) After getting the exact size of the brush on the eye click once. The Eye will be the color that you choose before

9) After moving the new eye in the original place. Open the Color Selector which is shown in the previous pic-ture. Then choose a color

10) Click on the Brush Tool (B) which is at the Tool Menu and arrange the size of the Brush according to your eye size. You have fit the eye on the brush. You can arrange the size of the brush buy using the brush sizing at the top under the tabs. Use the Diameter tool in the Brush menu.

8) The eye image that you surrounded by Lasso Tool will show up. Then use the Move Tool (V) to put the eye in the exact place as original

How to Replace the Color of an Object in Pixlr

1) Open Pixlr

2) Open an image that you want to change the color from your Computer or URL:

Selecting the Parts You Want to Keep

1) Click Ctrl + A to surround all the image.

2) Then, click on the Lasso Tool (L) and by pressing CTRL button all the time surrounding the colors you want to keep. For example; I am going to change the yellow, but there are few points I want to keep like Chevrolet emblem.

12) Click the Toggle Layer Settings in the Layer Menu. Click the three dot menu, and select the setting that makes the eye how you want it, for mine I used Color, but darken, lighten, hard light and soft light all work well.

Color Replacement

1) Select the parts you want to keep. Then click the Color Replacement Tool which is in

the Tool Menu on the left side of the screen.

2) Choose the color you want to from the Color Selector at the bottom of the Tool Menu.

3) Set the Brush Size located at the top. Then Start to replace the Color.

4) To get rid of the lines from Lasso Tool go to the Edit Menu, then Click Deselect All (Ctrl

+ D)

How to fix the parts that you don't want in your picture (Nevus, Freckle, Beard, Burn etc.)

1) Open Pixlr

2) Open an image that you want to fix a part of it. I am going to fix a nevus which is quite simple. URL:

Overlap the Nevus

1) Go to the Adjustment Menu which is the first square on the line.

2) Then Click on Touch Up

3) Spots will be selected in the Touch Up Menu, Do not chance it. You can set the brush size according to your image size.

4) Go over the parts that you want to fix.

How to Remove the Background of an Image in Pixlr

1) Open Pixlr

2) Open an image that you want to remove and delete the background of it,

Select the Part 1) Use Wand Tool (W) or Lasso Tool (L) to select the part that you want to take out from the image. Use the Wand Tool (W) so that there is one more step.

1a) For only Wand Tool (W) users: Go to Edit Menu on the top of the screen and click on Free Distort, then move the white space away.

Saving the New Image

1) Save as PNG otherwise it won't be as you want.

How to Remove an Object in Pixlr

Brush Adjustments

1) Select Clone Stamp Tool(s) from the tools menu on the left side of the screen. 2) Then adjust your brush size on the top of the screen according to object. We will go with 30 for the

example. 3)After that, adjust the opacity. I recommend you to use a value between 90 and 100. We will go with 95.

Removing the object

In our example, I want to remove the pink car so then I have to choose the road pattern.

The Clone Stamp Tool will change the pattern to what I selected before.

1) We have to take a sample pattern to apply it on the object.

2) Press "Ctrl" to select the pattern.

You have be very careful while using this tool because it does not stay stable while removing the object. The point the you choose will change according to your mouse movements.

4) By clicking the left button of mouse remove the object.

Tricks

1) Move your brush in the same direction all the time. Otherwise, it will look like its blurred. 2) If you are not satisfied with your sample pattern, you can always change it.
