We got there around10am. The members of this community were setting up the place. They were more than 15 people helping. It seem they all belong to the same community. Specifically, My friend Sandra invite me due to she was going to be part of a ritual in her religious community call baptism. The actual ritual didn’t start until 2pm.

For this community the baptism is a right of passage where the partipasate will go under water symbolizing dying to a life with sins. Then getting out of the water represent; reborn to a new life with the desire to have a clean conscience in front of God.





All the members that are getting baptizing dress in white. White the means purity. This community seem very organize they members who are going to be part of the event were sitting down next the pool. The ritual start with the signing of songs call hymns.





The Pastor,Alvaro Herrera. Provide a teaching about why you should baptize. Also the responsibilities and compromises you acquire with God when you do it. In this community they believed that God provide the spiritual gifts So Pastor Alvaro Herrera is the only one authorize by God to perform this ritual. He give them a biblical site 1st of Peter, 3:2. Then he goes on pray and all the members follow him with its own words. With this pray he is trying to sensitive God in order he bless the participants with the Holy spirit and spiritual gifts.





He start by explaining where the arms should be locate during the ritual. This will make easier pastor to lift the person out of the water. They make a line. The men went first, then the women. While they are in the line they pray and sing songs praising God until it is their turn.





Since the beginning of the ritual this girl impress me. She look like one of the most dedicate to the ritual. She look spiritually fulfilling with the music. She sing with passion and very loud. She was full of emotions. She was crying during the ritual. During the teaching I can see in her face she understand the meaning of being baptize and the responsibility of this new status and she look very secure of what she was doing. Before she go into the water she was taking by what she was feeling, So she was enthuasitically singing and clapping. Then, when the pastor put her hands on top of she broke crying uncontrolly, yet after she was submerged in the water her crying when a way. An as she was getting she smile very genuinely.
