Wow! Was the collective expression from 40 women at the Rural & Regional Women’s Network High Tea on Tuesday 4th August. Our wonderful school mum’s and citizens outdid themselves with a fine spread of delectable treats (a picture of the feast was even posted on their facebook page). A huge thanks to Chris & Laurie Heeb, Sandra Twiner, Alisha Wason, Teresa Day, Julianne McLean, Helen & Naomi Geri, Gary McNeven, Sandra Gilchrist & Suzy Backhouse for all your delicious baking and help on the day. Thank you P&C Executive

Scoliosis (Spinal Curvature) is an important health problem for adolescent girls and 25 girls per thousand are at risk of developing a significant curve. This curve can be treated, with 3 per thousand requiring active treatment each year (spinal brace or surgery). Because in the early stages the condition is often asymptomatic, screening in the age range 11-13 years is a sound preventative health measure. The current program for this is a Self-Detection Program. July/August every year are the months when it is recommended that all schools with girls in Years 7 & 9 participate in the National Self-Detection Program for Scoliosis (NSDP). The program can be either directly accessed via the Scoliosis Australia home page at www.scoliosis-australia.org, or alternatively the brochure with this information can be accessed at the Administration Office. Forms were handed out to female students in Years 6/7 and 9 last week. Tuny Troeth—School Nurse

Rugby Union Success During week three Kody travelled to the Gold Coast to play as part of the Wide Bay U15s Rugby Union side. Kody was selected in the team earlier this year and has attended several training sessions since then and again during the week prior to the competition. Over the three days of Thursday, Friday and Saturday Kody played 6 games and said the team played well and although they didn’t place in the finals he really enjoyed the experience. Even though we are used to Kody being our ‘friendly giant’ Kody said that he was one of the smaller boys there and that the games were hard but he had fun. It is a great achievement to be selected for this team and we are all very proud of Kody’s efforts. Well done! Thanks!
