Our Knitting Club’s New Project Our Knitting Club was asked to help the new

Hospice Home with a project...They were asked

to knit/crochet slippers to keep at the door of

the Hospice Home for guests who are visiting.

The yarn has all been donated (big thanks to NV

Fitness) and the ladies will be busy working away

at this for the next little while. If you are interested

in this project, please speak to Dawn and we’ll

get you the tools to get started!

Surprise your friends with a carnation and

personal message for Valentine’s!

no later than February 12th.

XXIII Winter Olympics

From February 9–25, the world’s greatest

athletes will compete for gold medals and glory

at the XXIII Winter Olympics. South Korea will

host the winter games in Pyeongchang, a city in

Gangwon Province, high in the Taebaek

Mountains of the north. It is scheduled to be

Canada’s 23rd appearance at the Winter

Olympics, having competed at every Games

since their inception in 1924. Four years ago,

Canada won a record 25 medals, placing

fourth overall. Don’t forget to tune into CBC

and cheer for our Canadian teams again this

year. Go Canada Go!!!

I hope you have all enjoyed the first month of the New Year!

January has come and gone so quickly – which only means we

are that much closer to spring!!

Goderich Place is having a Family Day Lunch on February 19th and

all guests are welcome. If you would like to bring guests, we are

asking residents to please sign up any guests at the front desk by

Monday, February 12th.

February will be an exciting month, with lots of events and

activities; Valentine’s Day, Chinese New Year, and of course, the

2018 Pyeong Chang Olympics. On February 9th, opening

ceremony day, we will be having a “red and white” day at

Goderich Place to celebrate Canada in the Olympics, so be sure

to wear red and white on that day! We will have the Olympics on

television every day from February 9-25 in the entertainment room.

Be sure to keep an eye out for Canada’s men’s hockey team,

which Blyth local Justin Peters is playing on. Justin is one of three

goal tenders on the team, and says he has “dreamt about

representing Canada in the Olympics as a hockey player since he

was a kid.” We can’t wait to see all of Canada’s achievements

during these exciting Winter Olympic Games. GO CANADA GO!!

FROM THE ACTIVITY DIRECTOR

Hello Everyone and welcome February!

We had a lot of fun in January with our big party being on Robbie

Burns day with the “Scottish Cowboys”! Aren’t they great?! It was a

super fun day, and Maurice on the bagpipes over supper as well!

February brings us many fun days to celebrate, and we also have

two new groups joining us this month...Driftwood Harmony and

TrueLove, so please watch your calendar so you don’t miss the fun!

Did you receive a tablet/Ipad for Christmas, or maybe you already

have one? Well good news is, we have a few students who have

offered to come in and help us with them! Please sign up at the

front desk and we wil l set up appointments!

We will be taking the van to Huronview in Clinton later this month

to visit some friends that have moved there. Please sign up at the

front desk if you would like to come!
