Each Parent and Supporter understands and agrees to: • Support the participants and enjoy the Match; • Encourage participation, but don’t force it; • Teach that enjoyment is more important than winning; • Never ridicule mistakes or losses; • Lead by example and respect all Players, Coaches, Umpires, Officials and spectators. Physical or verbal abuse will not

be tolerated; • Recognise all volunteers who give up their valuable time; • Never publicly criticise Umpires and instead raise personal concerns with Club Officials in private; • Do not use remarks based on race, religion, gender or ability as many such comments are politically incorrect and it is

your Coach, team-mates, Club and family that are let down with such remarks; • Respect the facilities and equipment of their own and opposing Clubs; • Do not engage in physical and/or verbal intimidation, abuse or conduct toward any Player, Official, Umpire or sup-

porter. Such actions are totally unacceptable; • Condemn the use of violence in any form, whether it is by spectators, Coaches, Officials or Players; • Refrain from using abusive language. • Not to enter the field of play in any sanctioned Competition Match unless granted permission by an Official to do so; • Not take part in any form of bullying including via the use of social media; • Not make or post inappropriate, offensive or discriminatory comments in public, including via social media, about

Players, Clubs, Umpires, Officials, the AFL or the League. Social media includes, but is not limited to, email, instant messaging, text messages, phone messages, digital images, website postings (including social media such as Face-book, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, websites and blogs);

Wow it is the end of the Home and Away season

already and finals next weekend … and given the

challenging year it has been we must all be thankful

the we got some football in and made something of

it.

We celebrated loud and proud last weekend at the

Nest with the opening of our new high tech score-

board and the welcoming of our Sponsors.

We were delighted to have the Lord Mayor of Lake

Macquarie, Kay Fraser, and Member for Cessnock,

Clayton Barr both along to perform the honours of

opening the scoreboard, and with some kind words

and support for the club duly cut the ribbon.

This brought to fruition a huge amount of hard work

and fundraising by many many people and we thank

Clayton for his support on securing the Community

Building Partnerships grant; Kay and the council for

their support in the installation; and most of all our

wonderful sponsor Ryan Nolan, and Rynos Asbestos

for their contribution and ongoing support of the

club.

It was a real team effort with Cardiff Cricket securing

some grant money and many of our ex-players and

club members contributing to electrical, cabling,

installation, concreting, and general setup of the

system – so thank you to everyone.

The footy was a mixed bag with the Ressies get a forfeit from Wyong ;) … but nonetheless they trained and did some

extra preparation in readiness for finals. The birds had a convincing win over a tough Wyong outfit who were deter-

mined to extract some payback from our last encounter, but the birds were having non of it and convincingly put

them away.

Our Mens Cup side had a tough day out against a well drilled Singleton Roosters team and could not match them for

most of the game. But still we were able to get some game time into some of our juniors and develop their

knowledge of senior footy and the game plans.

We are looking forward to hosting finals at Pasterfield and with only todays round to get through it should be an ex-

citing finish to the season.

Again thanks to our Special Guests, Lake Macquarie Mayor Kay Fraser, Clayton Barr (Member for Cessnock), and

Ryno for helping us to achieve and celebrate a significant milestone for our club.

We now arrive to the final round of the season and our men will

play host to Newcastle City at Rose Point Park.

Regardless of the result, the two sides will playoff again the follow-

ing week in the semi-final with the winner to play off against Terrig-

al-Avoca vs. Killarney Vale.

The Roosters will be playing for Sam Howard who lines up for his

100th senior game for the club.

“Over the last couple of seasons, he (Howard) has developed into

one of the most important players for us,” Singleton defender

Mitchell Gaffney explained.

“This year he was forced to move to centre half back and is having a

terrific year.”

Howard has also played an integral role of the field as a senior vice

president, second grade mentor and Covid officer.

Prior to the arrival of playing coach Jed Ellis Cluff, the 22-year-old also led the pre-season training program for the senior group.

Senior president Nadene McBride hopes the line-up can bring home the win for the defender in honour of his off-field efforts.

“Sam Howard to most is a young Rooster who can play football,” senior president Nadene McBride explained.

“But to our committee he is the senior vice president who has helped our club through one of the toughest years in sporting

history.

“Sam helped lead the men’s team before Jed cemented the role of senior men’s coach and he is the coach of the Shield

team who he helped keep on the paddock all year.”

MEANWHILE the Singleton Roosterettes will playoff against Newcastle City for the final round of their home and away sea-

son.

McBride, who is also coach of the women’s side, has declared her season as a success.

“There have been quite a few proud moments this year but the one that sticks in my head is our win against Lake Macquarie

in the first game,” McBride explained

“It was not what we were expecting at all, an awesome team effort pulled it off.”

On Sunday, the club would also like to wish the Maitland under-17 side all the best with their final match.

The side, which features seven Singleton Roosters on permit, will take on top of the table Newcastle City.

Last round for 2020 sees both Dockers teams

head to the central coast with the men playing

Terrigal Avoca and the women playing Gosford.

Last week the women had a tough game

against City but eventually prevailed by six

goals. Kimberly Trappett was on fire with four

goals and Carla Hill getting the coaches votes.

Lake Macquarie have top position on the lad-

der wrapped up so should be able to account

for Gosford and finish the season with eleven

wins in a row after losing the first game.

Last week the dockers men’s team were com-

petitive in patches against the top placed City

but fell to the pressure and composure of City

and became rathe ill-disciplined to go down by

eleven goals. It does not get any easier against

the second placed Terrigal team.

Two of our young guns celebrate milestones in the final round of the 2020 Home and Away Season. Zali Mertens will run in her 50th AFL HCC match this weekend. Zali's short career has seen her officiate in 8 Black Diamond Cup matches, including 7 as a field umpire. She made her debut in Cup last season in the final round. Zali has also officiated in 40 Black Dia-mond Cup Womens matches and one Black Diamond Plate match. Last season, Zali umpired in the Black Diamond Womens Representative Carnival held at Ferodale Oval, Port Stephens. Mertens was a Goal Umpire in the 2018 Womens Grand Final as well as Field Umpire in last season's Womens Grand Final. Zali won the Best First Year Umpire Award in 2018 and the prestigious Golden Whistle in 2019. Congratulations Zali. Kyan Everson is the second of our young gun crew to surpass the 50 match milestone mark this weekend. Kyan commenced umpiring in 2018 and has taken to field umpiring quickly after a short stint on the boundary. His tally reads as 31 matches officiated in Black Diamond Cup (20 field, 12 boundary), as well as 15 Black Diamond Women's matches, one Reserve Grade, one Black Diamond Plate and one Black Dia-mond Women's Shield. Kyan officiated in his first Grand Final in last year's Black Diamond Womens Grand Final. Congratulations Kyan.
