The Retouching examples here

are to illustrate the

importance of skin retouching

and the techniques used

to cover skin blemishes.

The photos here were from fashion

students in university who needed their

models retouched before

they could be used for the graduation magazine.

This model had badly scratched and marked skin on her legs, arms

and hands.

I covered these blemishes by

using the

Step 1

Step 2

Firstly you open the image you plan to use and make a copy of that image.

By clicking on the channel options find the maximumcontrast by clicking on ‘blue’. From the pull down menu go to ‘image’ choose ‘calculations’ and click ‘overlay’ in blending options and repeat if needed.

Step 3

Apply a black brush on the areas of the images to extract. Next click ‘command’ to highlight the background and using a white brush to remove the gray tones in the background also you can use ‘levels’ to aid in this process.

Click on ‘RGB’ go to the copy of the original image and apply a clipping mask. Click on the mask and press ‘command’ and ‘i’ to invert the mask.

took place.

The photo I used here is of a plus

sized model.The changes I made to this model’s figure

were extreme but there were more subtle changes

made to the face.

I created this illusion by using

With Colour Retouching it also allows for the addition of things such as

Makeup.

The addition of makeup can be either subtle or

dramatic, for this example I use an

image of Cara

Delevingne and subtly

added some eye makeup and lip

gloss .

There are numerous ways of adding such effects. Here I used masking.

photograph. With minor

adjustments to a previously flat

photograph the results can be

eye catching and

dramatic.

For the Colour Treatment here I used a mixture of
