Photovoltaic cell is one of the fundamental components of PV system. Solar cells are made of semiconductor material, mainly silicon. A silicon solar cell contains a JUNCTION between p-type and n-type silicon semiconductor. W

hen the light falls on this p-n junction, a voltage is generated across the p-n junction. For silicon p-n junction, the voltage generated is about 0.5 to 0.6 volts and this generated voltage is then capable of supplying current in the circuit, which can be used for electrical application [1]. The voltage across a PV cell is generated as long as light is falling on it. When there is no sunlight, voltage generated across the PV cell is zero and thereby no current generated in the circuit. The amount of power generated by a PV cell depends on efficiency of PV cell,area of PV cell and solar radiation level. Larger the PV cell area, larger will be the power output, because the PV cell will collect light from larger area.
