Back Lighting: Good for unique shapes and abstract images. Can be used with a reflector to add lighting to the subjects face as well.

Front lighting: Can sometimes make the subject look 2D (flat) & diminish details. Least dramatic/creative lighting. Good for those with aged skin due to less shadows.

Side Lighting: Dramatic lighting. Often good for portraits, animals, and mountains.
