Page 2: Photography Research and Test Shots

This photograph draws the audience in as her eyes are on pinpoint. The colours used in this photo is really eye catching as it is bright and contrasts with her skin colour. This would be good for a front cover because it is eye catching, she is connecting with the audience through her eyes.

Medium Close Up

Medium Shot

This is a medium shot as it is from the waist up showing the artist from an eye level shot. This is a good picture because it allowed the audience to see what instrument is being played, and the emotion behind it. The lighting isn’t that good for a front cover picture, but for a double page spread.

Page 4: Photography Research and Test Shots

This is a full shot, from head to toe to show what the person is wearing and what pose they are doing. In this picture, the person is connected with the reader due to his gaze which looks like he is staring at you. This would be a good picture to use in the double page spread with an interview on the other page.

Low angle shot

This is a low angle shot, which allows the reader to see the artist from a different angle completely. As if they are under her looking up at her. This shot wouldn't be so good for a front cover as it doesn't have a connection with the reader to attract them to the magazine.

Medium close up

This picture has an instant connection with the reader as he is looking straight into the camera. The use of black and white effect makes the picture more sharp and eye catching, even though there aren’t any bright colours. This would be good for a front cover, with the sell lines over it, so its like the background.

My Test Shots

Close Up

This is a close up I would consider to use because she is on eye level instantly creating a connect with the audience. The close up allows the audience to highlight her emotions in her face. I could use different effects to highlight her eyes, and contrast the background colours together.

Medium Shot

Medium shots are good to use on a double page spread because it allows the audience to see a proportion of what the artist is wearing as well as their expression of emotion. If I was to use this camera angle and shot, I would prefer to use it on either a double page spread or contents page, so the reader knows who they are reading about.

High Angle Shot

This high angle shot I would recommend for a double page spread. Although the shot is taken from above, her eye connection with the reader is still there making it easy for the audience to connect with her and feel somewhat close.
