Mars in three days
• Tip to Mars = 600 trips from Earth to moon.
• Trip to mars = 73791+ trips from Jammu to Kanyakumari.
• Fastest satellite ever sent is New Horizon, will take 162 days, if we use it to send to Mars.

Chemical Propulsion
• NASA and other space agencies uses chemical propulsion.
• It requires burning of liquid
Hydrogen and Oxygen.

IKAROS
• Japanese Satellite• Launched in 2010• To measure thrust force by
the solar radiation pressure.

Limitations of Solar Sails
• Light from the sun gets weaker the farther away it travels.
• So we need larger sails to move at higher speed, practically difficult to achieve.

DE-STAR• Directed Energy System
for Targeting of Asteroids and Exploration
• Used to deflect Asteroid from it’s path coming towards Earth.

Photonic Propulsion
• Concentrated laser beam focused at the spacecraft.
• Using this technology we can reach up to 25% of the speed of light.

Method 2 : Space Lasers
• A Giant set of lasers , set up in space.
• It takes power from Sun , using solar panels and then transmit that power towards space-craft in form of laser.

Interstellar Travel
• Voyager 1, launched in 1977, will take 40,000yr to reach proxima centauri.
• Using this technology we can sent miniature satellite in just 17yr.
• One day this can also be used to send humans to other stars.
