Alasdair Nichol, our auctioneer for the evening, is an international authority on paintings, a frequent appraiser on PBS’ Antiques Roadshow and is Vice Chairman of Freeman’s, America’s oldest auction house. Mr. Nichol has lectured extensively in both the United States and in the United Kingdom at universities, art schools, societies and private clubs on a variety of subjects, ranging from the Art Market to the Pennsylvania Impressionists and Scottish Art. Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, Alasdair originally trained as a painter in Aberdeen and then Belfast, where he graduated with a Master’s Degree in 1984.

Maureen McMullan, a native of Coatbridge, Scotland, is an award-winning professional singer, musician, and educator. She currently serves as the Assistant Chair of the Voice Department at the prestigious Berklee College of Music, and as the Artist-in-Residence for The National Trust for Scotland Foundation USA. Maureen is also an Artist Fellow of the historic St. Botolph Club in Boston. Career highlights include solo performances with Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops, Holiday Pops, and Swing Pops, PBS’ Highland Heartbeat, Montreux Jazz Festival, Concord Pops Orchestra, The Scottish National Jazz Orchestra, WGBH’s A Celtic Sojourn, Celtic Connections, and the Edinburgh Fringe.

The Macallan is one of the world’s most awarded and admired single malts. This peerless reputation has been built by the commitment of The Masters of Spirit and Wood, the craftsmen at the heart of The Macallan since it was legally licensed in 1824. Their unfaltering obsession with selecting exceptional oak casks and distilling sublime spirits brings an unsurpassed, timeless quality to The Macallan. Available for tasting during reception and dancing, and for toasting during dinner.

Snow Leopard Vodka is an award-winning vodka born out of the desire to help save the snow leopard from extinction. It is the first luxury vodka to be made from spelt grain, which provides a distinct depth of flavor and silky smooth finish. Fifteen percent of all profits, together with funds from additional fundraising activities, are donated directly to snow leopard conservation projects through the Snow Leopard Trust. The goal is to donate $1 million annually. Available for tasting during reception and dancing.

Phyllis Logan is a Scottish actress, best known for playing the inimitable Mrs. Hughes in Downton Abbey. She hails from Paisley, Scotland and is a graduate of the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama where she received the James Bridie Gold Medal in 1977. After graduation, she worked on the stage in Edinburgh as well as regularly on Scottish television. While working on the BBC Scotland production, The White Bird Passes, she met writer-director Michael Radford, who cast her as the lead in the 1983 film Another Time, Another Place, a role for which she won numerous awards. With a substantive list of film and television credits to her name including the films Secrets and Lies, Shooting Fish and the television series Silent Witness, Logan has appeared in the Masterpiece productions And a Nightingale Sang and All the King’s Men. Before her great success in the period drama Downton Abbey, Ms. Logan was most identified with the role of Lady Jane Felsham, co-starring with Ian McShane for eight years in nearly 50 episodes of Lovejoy, a comedy-drama. She also played Inspector Frost’s love interest in the two “If Dogs Run Free” episodes, the last story in the A Touch of Frost television series. She has played Mrs. Hughes, the housekeeper, in all six seasons of Downton Abbey (2010-2015). Logan has a home in Chiswick where she lives with her husband, actor Kevin McNally.

Rebecca Eaton took the helm of the PBS series MASTERPIECE THEATRE and MYSTERY! in 1985, and in 2008, oversaw a highly successful relaunch of MASTERPIECE, which attracted a new generation of viewers. She has brought American audiences Hilary Mantel’s Wolf Hall, the recent hits Sherlock, Poldark and Downton Abbey — the most-watched drama in PBS history — as well as such high-profile titles as Mr Selfridge, Endeavour, Wallander, Prime Suspect, Cranford, Little Dorrit, Inspector Lewis, and The Complete Jane Austen. Under her leadership, MASTERPIECE has won 55 Primetime Emmy Awards®, 15 Peabody Awards, six Golden Globes®, and two Academy Award® nominations. In 2011, Eaton was named one of TIME’s 100 most influential people. Her distinguished career has earned her the official recognition of Queen Elizabeth II—with an honorary OBE (Officer, Order of the British Empire). A graduate of Vassar College, Eaton began her career at the BBC World Service, then moved on to PBS station WGBH Boston where she produced programs ranging from business to sports to dance to drama before becoming Executive Producer of MASTERPIECE. Eaton’s memoir, MAKING MASTERPIECE: 25 Years Behind the Scenes at Masterpiece Theatre and Mystery! on PBS, was published by Viking in 2013.
