� Stinging cells found in the tentacles

� Each cell has a tightly coiled, poison filed, dart-like structure-poison filed, dart-like structure-nematocyst

� Nematocyst has a trigger hair-cnidocil

� Contact with the cnidocil causes the nematocyst to discharge

� Fills with water

� Often has barbs
