On numerous occasions in my teaching, I have mentioned the importance of names in Scripture. In Biblical times a person’s name revealed something about that person’s character or destiny, especially among the Hebrew people. The purity and beauty of the Hebrew language gives us insight into the LORD our God – “Yahweh Adonai” our master, ruler and King.

The names of God in Hebrew are so vitally important for our understanding of God and who God is, as each Hebrew name for God discloses something unique about His nature, character and His acts of love in our life. God’s names demonstrate and confirm for us the many and different ways in which our LORD is there to help and sustain us, as He did the Hebrew people, in and through life’s difficult and often arduous journey.

God’s name, Yahweh Rapha in Hebrew means “The Lord Who Heals” or “The Lord who heals you.” He is our Healer, in both body and soul! Psalm 147:3 says, “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”

This name of God assures each of us that our Heavenly Father wants to restore us to wholeness. It brings pure comfort, hope and deliverance when we are faced with the brokenness or pain of extreme and unexpected circumstances or illness that come to our lives.

Yahweh Rapha has the power to heal physically (2 Kings 5:10), emotionally (Psalm 34:18), mentally (Daniel 4:34), and spiritually (Psalm 103:2–3). Neither impurity of body nor impurity of soul can withstand the purifying, healing power of Yahweh Rapha.

Jesus (Yeshua), proved Himself to be Yahweh Rapha, the LORD who heals, when He went from town to town, “healing every disease and sickness among the people” (Matthew 4:23). In Judea “large crowds followed him, and he healed them there” (Matthew 19:2). In fact, “wherever he went—into villages, towns or countryside—they placed the sick in the marketplaces. They begged him to let them touch even the edge of his cloak, and all who touched it were healed” (Mark 6:56). Not only did Jesus heal people physically, He also healed them spiritually by forgiving their sins (Luke 5:20).

To actually lift up our hearts and hands to our “Abba” (meaning father, daddy) and to pray in God’s name, Yahweh Rapha, is to specifically acknowledge and worship God for His power to heal in our lives and to praise Him for the many ways He touches and cares for our hurts. To pray in the names of God is to remind us that God knows our need for help, He understands our need for healing, He seeks our restoration when we fall in sin and He holds true to His promise to redeem every broken piece and place in our lives.

To acknowledge God and to trust in His revealed names and actions is to walk in a deeper faith and reality of who God is. God has promised to never leave us or forsake us and therefore He never leaves us to fend for ourselves but He always provides a way to meet our needs.

Exodus 15:26 God said to the Israelites, “If you listen carefully to the LORD (Yahweh – the I Am, self-existent and eternal one) your God (Elohim – Creator) and do what is right in His eyes, if you pay attention to His commandments and keep all His decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the LORD, who heals you (Yahweh Rapha).”

Blessings!

Be uniquely you, who God has called you to be, to do what God has called you to do. He made you different and unique for a reason, so use those to bring Him all the glory. So every time you see a shell, think about what effort and detail went into making it unique and then think about how amazingly detailed and unique God has

made you for a certain purpose.

Seashells

Have you guys ever walked on the beach and picked up seashells? The best time to look for shells is early in the morning and after a storm. Do you know why? All those rough waves from the storms bring in lots and lots of shells. Man, I’ll bet there were zillions of shells after that hurricane last weekend!

My friend, Peggy, loves to walk on the beach and look for shells. Lots of times she and a friend go walking on the beach just to look for shells. Peggy goes in one direction and her friend goes in the other. Usually Peggy has picked up LOTS of shells, but the other lady usually has just 2 or 3 shells. When they meet back together, they compare shells, and the other lady can’t believe Peggy’s picked up so many shells! When she looks at Peggy’s shells, she exclaims, “They’re all broken” and she laughs at Peggy. My friend Peggy tells her “No, they’re pretty; see this one has a beautiful peach color in it that turns to pink. And this one has a pretty edge, except for that one broken part on the side. And this one changes colors in the sunshine. And this sand dollar still has the little dove inside it; and you couldn’t see the dove if the shell wasn’t broken! This starfish is almost perfect, except for that one tiny arm broken off at the. But Peggy doesn’t look at the broken part. Peggy’s friend laughs at her again; You see, Peggy’s friend only picks up perfect shells—she throws the broken ones back into the ocean; or just doesn’t bother to pick them up at all.

When Peggy was telling me this story, I wondered what Jesus would do if He went walking on the beach looking for shells. Would He just pick up the PERFECT SHELLS; or would He be like my friend Peggy, and see something beautiful in each shell, even if it was broken.

I remember the stories from Sunday School when I was a little girl… about how Jesus stopped what he was doing to help broken people…. The blind man he healed or the man who couldn’t walk or the man who had sores on his body; Yep, Jesus stops to pick up broken people;

I’m SO GLAD Jesus is not like Peggy’s friend; because she’d never even stop to give me a chance. She’d walk right on by most of us because we sure don’t look perfect. Jesus is like Miss Peggy, He sees something beautiful in each of us, and He knows just where He can use us. And He especially likes the broken ones, because we’ve been stepped on and thrown back so many times, we’re just happy He could see something pretty in us.

Let’s Pray: Lord, we know God made us all, and even though we aren’t perfect, there’s something beautiful in each of us that You can see; Teach us to have eyes like Jesus; Eyes that look beyond the broken parts to find something in everybody that is beautiful. Slow us down so that we take the time to look, stop, and pick up the beautiful people and shells scattered in our path, like you and Peggy do.

You Are Invited To: The Bar Mills Community Church Prayer and Devotional Group

When: Wednesday Evenings Time: 6:00 P.M.

Where: Bar Mills Community Church

13 Hermit Thrush Drive, Buxton, ME 04093

Why: We will meet to share our concerns and blessings with each other and to lift them up to God in prayer and to discuss scriptures and

topics that are important to us.

Prayer was answered when I asked my Heavenly Father for a prayer group enlightened with the Holy Spirit. As HEBREWS 5:12-14 states milk is for the unskilled and solid food of the mature. I am ready and willing to become an ambassador for Christ.

Our weekly meetings consist of women with open minds praying each week for what is on their heart. We see prayer answered and give God the glory. In addition, we take turns on choosing a verse or passage to inspire the learning of his message.

In the weeks to come we will be watching The War Room and invite any who would like to see it with us. The running time is 2 hours so I suggest bringing a pillow to sit on and there will be an intermission.

Also, Pastor Chuck has offered to teach a couple weeks on evangelizing which I pray will convict our hearts as necessary to make us disciples as Jesus has requested. Pray on JOHN 12:26 and MATTHEW 28:19-20.

Your Sister in Christ, Cheryl Huntley

Dear BMCC Family,

Just a couple of weeks ago on July 14, I found out that I am going to Israel in September!! This is a dream about to come true and I wanted to share with you how it has come to be. Since I started learning more about the Hebrew roots of our faith, I have had a longing to travel to the land where the all began. Last November I was introduced to Kate Hess originally from Maine who is married to Tom Hess. Together they oversee the Jerusalem House of Prayer for All Nations located on the Mt. of Olives in Jerusalem. Tom started this 24/7 prayer tower over 31 years ago and there has been non-stop prayer at that location ever since. Every year they hold an international convocation where delegates from over 140 nations gather to seek the Lord's will through prayer intercession, prophetic words, worship, and teaching.

Since I met Kate, I have had a strong desire to join her in Jerusalem for this special conference. After the accident it didn't seem to be a possibility. That was until I talked with Kate on Sunday, July 14th before church. We had scheduled a phone date because I wanted to share with her the blessing it was to add the Israel flag to our church sanctuary. She was so happy to hear of this, and feels very encouraged by the news and would like to come visit our church when she is in Maine. Through the course of conversation Kate asked if I could come to the convocation. I said I really would like to but I needed a big miracle in order to do so. She challenged me to believe that God would make a way and so I agreed with her in prayer that He would make a way and that YES I would come! So right now, I am believing God for all of the financial miracles needed to make this happen.

I will be going as one of about 70 volunteers from around the world to help with the various tasks needed to hold a convocation of over 5,000 people. Part of my assignment will also be playing music and leading worship. The volunteers arrive a week before the convocation begins to prepare and become acquainted with all the responsibilities necessary. The convocation itself is two weeks and then the last week is the Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot) which many people both Jew and Gentile from around the world attend.

In the paperwork the first paragraph urged all volunteers to secure a mighty team of prayer intercessors. I would be eternally grateful if you all would cover me with prayers for this journey. The spiritual warfare battle rages and I would covet your effectual fervent prayers because they avail much!

Many blessings to you and Shalom!

Angela

Have you recently read a book that has lifted you up or enlightened you? Well I have and I want to share my thoughts. I am on book 4 of the LEFT BEHIND SERIES and as a previous Backslider it has empowered me to speak openly of our Creator, my Heavenly Father. We need to save souls before The Rapture.

What is Backsliding?

Life as a Christian can be quite an adventure.

There are ups, downs, and unexpected turns. Though you may go back along a trail you have been traveling, the one thing you don’t want in your Christian walk is to go backwards spiritually.

Backsliding refers to going backwards spiritually and morally. When a believer backslides, he falls back in some way into a less desirable condition. His lapse may be a relatively minor one and unintentional. He may simply fall back through neglect by not praying, reading the Bible, and keeping his focus on living for God.

But there is good news for the backslider! God does not condemn him. God’s loving concern for the backslider is steadfast and sure. The Lord calls that person back to Himself through the work of the Holy Spirit.

The most recognizable feature of Old Orchard Beach today is the iconic Pier that has stood for well over 100 years. The first Pier was built in 1898, as a steel structure, 1,825 feet long and was 20 feet above the tide. At its end was a casino and a ballroom with room for 5,000 dancers. Over the years, a series of storms ate away at the pier causing it to decrease in length. The Pier was completely rebuilt in 1980 with wood, after being totally destroyed by a blizzard in 1978. It currently extends nearly 500 feet over the Atlantic Ocean, lined with souvenir shops, carnival-style foods, and a night club, and hosts special events such as concerts, fairs, street dances, fireworks etc.

Does this location look familiar?

Do you remember how long the pier use to be?
