DIRECTIONSThe UK Med-Peds Clinic is located on 830 S Limestone, Lexington, third � oor of the University Health Service Building. It is inside the Internal Medicine Group Clinic.

Patients can park on the third � oor of the Kentucky Clinic parking garage and enter the building through the blue set of double doors. Continue straight down the third � oor hallway and pass the Ear, Nose & Throat Clinic. From there, follow the signs to the Internal Medicine Group Clinic. Parking is also available in the UK HealthCare garage directly across S. Limestone.

WHAT IS A MED-PEDS DOCTOR?The doctors at the UK Internal Medicine/Pediatrics Group Clinic (commonly known as the UK Med-Peds Clinic) are board-certi� ed in both internal medicine and pediatrics. This allows them to care for both routine and complicated health problems in patients of all ages. In addition, our doctors are able to care for patients when they’re young and continue caring for them throughout their entire lives.

WHAT SERVICES ARE PROVIDED?The Med-Peds Clinic provides complete family care, annual exams and comprehensive medical care from infancy to adulthood.

WHO WORKS IN THE CLINIC?Both attending and resident physicians collaborate to care for patients in the Med-Peds Clinic. This means that each patient gets the bene� t of two physicians’ expertise for diagnosis and treatment.

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT KINDS OF PHYSICIANS?An attending physician has completed a residency and practices medicine in a clinic or hospital in his or her specialty. An attending physician supervises fellows, residents and medical students. All attending physicians in the Internal Medicine Group/Pediatrics Group Clinic have completed

• Mental status changes or loss of consciousness. Abrupt onset of a severe headache accompanied by nausea and/or vomiting or feelings of drowsiness.

• Fever:

• Higher than 105 degrees at any age.

• Higher than 100.4 degrees if child is younger than 3 months old.

• Bleeding that continues after 10 minutes of direct pressure.

NURSING TRIAGE LINEThe nursing staff is here 8 a.m.–4 p.m. to help answer any questions you may have. We strive to give every patient excellent medical care, and we value your opinion. Please feel free to contact us at 859-323-0257 with questions, comments or concerns.

MEDICATION REFILLSIf you or your child needs to have a medication re� lled, please call 859-323-0257 and follow the automated instructions regarding re� lls. Please note that it may take up to 48 hours for your re� ll request to be processed. Medications will not be called in on weekends or before 8 a.m. or after 4 p.m during the week.

Attention de� cit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) re� lls All patients receiving stimulant medications on a long-term basis will be asked to come back for a physician appointment every three to four months. This is to review the patient’s progress and to make sure no medication adjustments are needed. The majority of these medications will be written for a one-month supply and you will need to pick up the prescription from our clinic each month.

A resident physician has received his or her medical degree and is receiving advanced training under the supervision of an attending physician. Our residents have completed one or two years of post-medical- school training and are pursuing subspecialty training in internal medicine and pediatrics.

AFTER-HOURS CAREIf you are unsure whether you need to seek care from an urgent care provider or an emergency department, contact an on-call physician through the UK HealthCare paging operator at 859-323-0257. Our pediatric patients can also be seen and evaluated at the UK Children’s Twilight Clinic located in the Kentucky Clinic.

Twilight Clinic weekday appointment hours: 5-8 p.m.

Twilight Clinic weekend and holiday hours: Noon-4 p.m.

If you or your child have any of the following symptoms, you should go to an emergency department immediately:

• Dif� culty breathing and/or changes in skin color.
