1 November 2019 Dear Parents & Carers Well it’s a happy Halloween atmosphere in school as we reach the end of October. This week Green group were out with our Holyrood Park Ranger and many of our pupils linked up with Drummond High School for the community litter pick. Group F went on Outdoor Education, and the weather stayed sunny for them which was a bonus, and Mrs Lockie took a team of badminton players to an inter-schools tournament. We have also had a group of young people developing their skills to become independent travellers and a few of our Seniors have been out on work placements. This is all part of their journey as they move towards adulthood. Have a great weekend and please remind our young people to bring their coats to school. Well it’s a happy Halloween atmosphere in school as we reach the end of October. We have also had a group of young people developing their skills to become independent travellers and a few of our Seniors have been out on work placements. This is all part of their journey as they move towards adulthood.

Have a great weekend and please remind our young people to bring their coats to school.

Last Friday, a few pupils from Group I went to the Exhibition Preview of ‘Follow In Our Footsteps’ in Custom Lane, Custom Wharf.

This event is always very exciting as it is when we meet everyone from the other schools who have taken part in the project. We enjoyed some juice and popcorn before representatives from each school went up to the microphone to tell the audience all about their workshops. Reebie and Murshed spoke very well and told everyone about our graffiti poster.

Thank you to Caitlin McKinnon from the Gallery for including us in this amazing project once again – we love it! Also, big thank you to Callum Innes (artist) for his generous box of free art materials.

PARENT COUNCIL CHRISTMAS FAIR

The Parent Council are busy preparing for this year’s Christmas Fair which is on Saturday 30th November 10am – 12 noon.

Please put this date in your diary to come along and enjoy one of Pilrig’s social highlights of the year!

There will be all the usual stalls – Arts & Crafts, Books & DVDs, Auction, Tombola, Home baking, Raffle, Christmas cards and calendars and much more!

The Parent Council would appreciate donations for any of the above – from now (except for Home baking on the day).

The Parent Council would also really like offers of help to set up (Friday 29th November at 12 noon), run a stall on the day and / or tidy up at the end of the Fair.

If you can help in any way at all…we’d all really appreciate it!

Any questions, please contact the Parent Council or myself.

Many thanks

On Wednesday afternoon, Mr Busby, Mrs Tupper and the Pink Group were joined by a class from Drummond Community High School to do a community Litter pick in Pilrig Park. Fortunately, it was a beautiful afternoon and so the pupils all enjoyed some sunshine whilst picking up litter around the park.

Well done Pink Group – terrific effort!

We have a great partnership with Drummond High School and it is great when we can team up together to do activities like this.

RAISE FUNDS FOR PILRIG PARK SCHOOL EVERY TIME YOU SHOP ONLINE

Members of the parent council have set up a charity to support pupils at Pilrig Park School. Last year we raised money for a sensory room; and we have funding for two music projects: Piping and Drumming, and Music Therapy. To help support the charity - FRIENDS OF PILRIG PARK SCHOOL - please sign up for EASY FUNDRAISING. It doesn’t cost you anything.

If you shop online, you’ll find many businesses will make a tiny donation - and it all adds up.

If you have internet access please sign up at https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/friendsofpilrigpark/ and please tell your family and friends.

There is a video on the site which explains how Easy Fundraising works: https://youtu.be/Sn2dsQGAe_w but basically the more of you who sign up - the more money is raised for pupils at Pilrig Park School. You can also download a donation reminder that will alert you every time you shop if your retailer supports Easy Fundraising, and there’s a free APP.
