Introducing the Certified Professional Insurance Agent Designation: The AIMS Society’s CPIA

Designation is a first-of-its kind, hands-on, how-to, CE-approved insurance designation. Because your

agency's success comes down to relationships – and CPIA is the building block.

PIA is excited to announce the introduction of the CPIA designation in New York and New Jersey in 2007. The CPIA designation is conferred by the American Insurance Marketing and Sales Society. The AIMS Society is a national organization dedicated to providing interactive training, ongoing resources and networking opportunities to insurance professionals. These seminars are designed to enhance the ability of producers, sales support staff and company personnel to efficiently create and distribute effective insurance programs.

About the CPIA Designation

The Certified Professional Insurance Agent (CPIA) Designation is first-of-its kind, hands-on, how-to training. To earn the CPIA designation, candidates are required to successfully complete all three Insurance Success Seminars.

CPIA Designation Update Requirement

The AIMS Society’s Certified Professional Insurance Agent (CPIA) designation stands for professionalism, commitment to professional training and results and technical knowledge. The designation requires a bi-annual update that can be satisfied through participation in one of the three core Insurance Success Seminars, an Advanced Insurance Success Seminars or by attending the AIMS Society’s annual PRO-to-PRO Executive Retreat.

Scholarship sponsorship opportunities for CIC

• Minimum of two years full-time experience in the insurance industry.

• Must be currently employed full-time by an employer which is a member of PIA.

Presentation of Awards:

Scholarships are presented during the CIC Conferment Ceremony, usually held at the Ruble program each year.

Custom Class Cost BreakdownThere are a few variables in the cost of your Custom Class program including choice of instructor, travel costs and overnight accommodations. Your Custom Class coordinator will work hard to bring you the most cost effective program. We will try to bring in top notch ‘local” faculty, saving the client on potential travel expenses. If there is specific instructor that is of interest, yet they are not “local”, we will try to coordinate when they will be in your area so that expenses can be shared with another program. Our main focus is bringing you unmatched quality education at a fair cost.

We generally require that you have at least 10-15 people in attendance at a Custom Class Program in order to make it cost effective. Typically to have a course taught in house by a ‘local’ instructor the price can range from $1000 to $1500 for a full day session. Custom Class programs using “non-local” instructors can range from $1500 - $2500 for a full day. Depending on the cost of your program, you will be allotted a certain number of attendees at that fee. Expecting a large number of attendees? Let us work with you. We can quote you on a sliding scale and save you even more money.

As part of the Custom Class Anchor Program, you open your in house program up to “outside” attendees. We handle the registration process and promotion and you receive a credit for each “outside” attendee.

Certified Insurance Counselor: The definitive insurance professional’s designation.

A national designation program developed by the National Alliance, the CIC program has been the insurance industry’s premier, proven source for practical, real-world education since 1969. The CIC program is recognized for its practical, hands-on approach to learning. Approved for continuing education credits in all states, CIC is one of the most highly recognized professional education designation programs in the insurance industry! The program provides a comprehensive and continuing education program to individuals who have made a career commitment to insurance.

The five CIC institutes are:Personal Lines • Commercial Casualty • Commercial Property • Life & Health • Agency Management

Who should attend:Licensed agents, brokers and solicitors; individuals who have at least two years of experience in the insurance industry; individuals who have served as a corporate risk manager for at least two years; and individuals who have served as a full-time insurance faculty member of an accredited college or university.

Earning the designation: Individuals must complete all five CIC institutes and pass a comprehensive essay exam at the end of each course. Individuals have five calendar years from the time they pass the first exam to complete the program. Once the designation is attained, dues-paying CICs may attend a James K. Ruble Graduate Seminar for their yearly update.

The CISR designation is recognized nationwide as an important credential – one that benefits individuals, their agencies, and their customers. CISRs are approved for CE in all states! CISR training is excellent preparation for meeting the challenges of this tough economy.

Earning and Maintaining the CISR DesignationIndividuals must complete all five of the courses and exams within three calendar years following the year in which they successfully complete the first exam.
