Andy Warhol

Go online and look at some art by Andy Warhol. Then get a parent to take a photo of your

face and then print off 6 copies of it in black and white. Then use colouring pencils to colour the picture of your face in bright

colours.

Piet Mondrian

Go online and find pictures by Piet Mondrian. Then use a pencil and ruler to make lines, squares

and rectangles on a piece of paper. Then colour them in using blue, yellow and red felt tip pens.

Van Gogh

Go online and look up ‘Starry Night by Van Gogh’. Then have a go at making your own version of this painting. Use a white crayon on paper to make the swirls, then a

yellow crayon to make the moon and stars. When you have finished paint over the whole page with blue water

colour paint and watch what happens

Roy Lichtenstein

Go online and search ‘Roy Lichtenstein boom, pop, pow’.

Then have a go at making your own explosion picture.

Sock Puppets

Get an old sock and then glue or sew on other details to make

your character. You could use googly eyes, bits of material, pipe

cleaners etc. Make a whole range of characters and then put on a puppet show.

Clay Tile

Get a lump of air drying clay. Roll it out flat and then cut it

into a square shape about 10cm by 10cm. Then use clay tools to draw a pattern into your tile. It

is a good idea to plan your design on paper first.

Cartoon Character

Design your own new cartoon character. Draw it in detail and

think of a name. Then try to come up with some stories based

around your new character.

Self-Portrait

Get a hand mirror and look carefully at your face – your eye

colour, any freckles you have, what shape your nose is etc. Then have a go at drawing

yourself.

Painting Rocks

Go into your garden and look for some big rocks. Then use paint to make then beautiful. You could paint patterns or pictures. When you finish you could paint over the whole thing with PVA glue

and when it dries it will be shiny.

Pointillism

Pointillism is pictures made up of lots of little dots. Go online and

have a look. Make your own pointillism picture using a cotton

bud dipped in paint.

Food Prints

Cut different fruits and vegetables in half and dip them

in paint and make prints on paper. You could even ask a

grown up to help you cut shapes and patterns into the food to make more interesting prints.

Hand and Foot Painting

Use hand and foot prints as part of your pictures. For example, use hand prints as butterfly

wings or foot prints for a rocket picture. What other ideas can

you think of?

Build a Fort

Get chairs and sheets and build a fort in your own front room.

Scratch Art

Paint rainbow stripes across a piece of paper covering every part

with colour. Then when the paint is dry colour over the entire thing with black crayon. Then you can scratch patterns and

pictures into the black and you will have a rainbow picture.

Marble Run

Use cardboard tubes to make your own marble run. Cut slits into the sides to attach tubes diagonally and cut tubes in half. How big can you make

it?

Money Box

Get an old Pringles tube – the smaller ones are best. Ask an

adult to help you cut a slit in the lid big enough to drop coins through. Then use paint or

cutting and sticking to decorate your money box however you

want.

Box Doll House

Use old cardboard boxes to create a house for your dolls. Once you have built it you could use pretty

paper to make wallpaper and even old bits of carpet for the

floor. You could even try using small boxes to make furniture.

A Boat that Floats

Design and make a boat that will float in water. You will need to

think about what will be the best material to use – it will have to be waterproof so it doesn’t get ruined and it will need to be

something that floats.

Moving Vehicle

Design and make a vehicle that moves. You will need to find a way to make your wheels move. You could use cardboard wheels with split pins in the middle or for a bigger challenge you could

try making an axle using a pencil or straw.

Kites

Have a go at cutting some paper into a diamond shape then add straws to the back in a cross

shape and some string and see if you can get it flying.

Superhero Cape

Ask your parents if they have an old piece of fabric you could have (Maybe an old bed sheet). Cut it out into the shape of a cape and then give yourself a superhero name and design yourself a superhero logo to put on the

back.

Board Game

Get a big piece of paper or card and either use a ruler to make boxes all around the edge or

make a curvy road trail going right around the page. Number

the boxes and then write in different tasks to do at each box. Also decide how you will win.

Melted Crayon Art

Use a cheese grater and grate wax crayons into small shavings – (a pencil

sharpener can also work if you don’t want to get your grater waxy). Then get a

sheet of baking paper and lay your wax shavings onto to it to create a picture.

When you are finished lay another piece of baking paper over the top and iron over it to melt the wax. Put it on the window

to make stained glass effect.

Photo Frame

Ask a grown up to help you cut a rectangular hole in the middle of

a piece of an A5 piece of cardboard. Decorate the border with paint, pens or cutting and sticking. make it as beautiful as you can and then stick a photo to

the back.
