A NOTE FROM ONE OF OUR
CO-PRESIDENTS
The season is changing again
already. Oh my! The old saying
"Time flies" becomes more
meaningful with each passing
year. As I come to realize how
important each day, each
experience and each relationship
is, I want to acknowledge how
much I cherish the
Piecemakers. Thank you for all
your kind words and prayers.
We have a busy season ahead
with our quilting sisters. A
couple of social events planned,
our craft sale and many
opportunities to learn a new trick
or two at our meetings but
especially on our 2nd Tuesday
all day sews. Keep your eyes and
ears tuned in as the schedule of
activities are announced. Don’t
forget to let Peg Tackett know if
you have something you can
share or something you would
like to learn about.

SUNDAYS AT STERLING STERLING HEIGHTS REC CENTER
2508 St Charles Place
Village of Tamarind Grove
Come out and sew with us all day from 11:30am
to 3:50pm. Lots of fun for everyone. They even
have special themes going on some Sunday’s. 3rd
Sunday is scrappy Sunday. Join in the fun.
.
This Quilt of the week is from Barb
Morrow and contains the names of
various members of our Chapter. Wanda
brought this in and we are so happy to
have it. Barb will be back visiting on
Sept. 27th so be there to see her.
August 23rd Quilt of the Week
Quilt of the week from Diane.
This is from a kit by McKenna
Ryan. You get all the fabric and
all you have to do it put it
together. Words from Diane,
time consuming and tedious.
However, it is a beautiful quilt.
The name: Calling Me Home.
Thanks for sharing.
Susan and friends delivered 52 quilts for
our Head Start Program on September
30th. Good Job Ladies
BELOW ARE THE RESULTS FROM THE SURVEY THAT WAS SENT OUT TO OUR CHAPTER ASKING ABOUT

BELOW ARE THE ONES THAT HAD THE MOST INTEREST.

2) NEEDLE TURNED APPLIQUE – Ann has volunteered
3) HOLIDAY ORNAMENTS
4) BEAUTIFUL BORDERS
5) TRUNK SHOWS

We need volunteers to show us these so if you have any skills please let us know. We will then
schedule a class and let everyone know. Peg would love to put you on her schedule and we would love
to learn.
These are just some samples of what we can learn from our teachers, so please volunteer if you can
On Tuesday your UFO was due, BUT we get a reprieve, it is NOW OCTOBER 4TH. Did you get
your project done? This person did not, really didn’t want to do the one we got but eventually I
will have to finish it. Even with the date change it is not happening. If you did, I hope you have
a nice lunch on all of the members in the UFO group. The next one isn’t due for 3 month’s so
maybe everyone (that would be me) will get theirs done.
BLOCK OF THE MONTH…………….Brenda has challenged us with the “LOVER KNOT”. If you didn’t
get a copy of it ask her and she will be more than happy to give it to you. She says it isn’t hard
so I am hoping she isn’t telling us a fib. It’s also on quilters cache website.
Esther wants everyone to enter a quilt in our showcase, entry forms must be turned in
by October 4th. Pictures of your quilt are needed. Your sleeve and bag are not needed
until January 4th. There are several of you who really really should be putting your quilts in and
they do have a rookie category for newbies (you know who you are).
DON’T FORGET TO CHECK OUT THE BULLETIN BOARD FOR
UPCOMING CLASSES.
Please support your local
quilts shops, they need
you to keep them going
and grow so that we can
make more quilts for
charities and our
veterans………..
Do whatever is
necessary to achieve
accurate 1/4" seams.
You'll have fewer
headaches.
Delores brought this stunning hand quilted flower quilt in for us to enjoy. It is called
Brides Garden by Marjorie Rhinehart. Five fabrics make 3 different flowers for a total of 18 and
petals are needle turned applique. It took 9 month to finish and was a UFO. Love it.
Yo Yo’s galore, 588 to be exact and we watched Esther doing these at our meetings week
after week and I know she was doing them at home. Good Job. Quilt Show?
Quilt of the week September 13th
Thanks Diane for finding
Barbs sewing machine
cord, she really wanted
to sew on Tuesday
Darlene is our embroidery person and
did this quilt at the request of her
son. He wanted surf boards and
women. Well a certain kind of
woman but I will let her tell you about
that. For those of us who don’t do
embroidery she explained the
machine and it is something
worthwhile looking into. Sounds like
fun.
Terry on the left,
(she says she is a
novice) and
Brenda on the
right with a
glorious black
and white star
pattern. Both
are mystery
quilts called
Gemini Sky.
Same pattern but
different look
when you use
different colors
and fabric.
Quilt of the week September 20 Wanda took a class with Barbara DeLong on 11/8/15 and
this became her UFO, it was on 3 times so she is thrilled to
be finished. It is called Falling Triangles and only has 2 rows
that are repeated. OK Barb, your turn.
Carla showed this very pretty
table runner that she made. The
colors and design would go on
anyones table. Maybe we can
get her to work with us on this
one.
QGOTV.ORG You need to get on this site and check it out. All upcoming events and all
classes being offered are on here. Showcase quilt answers, photo’s, long arm quilters and a lot more is
here for you to see and to use. You are in for a treat when you log on.
Welcome back Sue, the 1st returning
snow bird…
Show and tell from September 20th. On the right is
Susan’s UFO. It belonged to Carolyn who gave up and
gave it to Susan who finished it. She also was about to
give up but didn’t. It is a quilt as you go. Bottom left is a
quilt that Eula has done for her son. He is going to be so
surprised at what his Mom did for him. Bottom right is
from Delores and it is a work of art. It is a 4 patch but the
quilting she did on it was stunning. It is done in a spiral
design. Her advice is to be ready to spend a long time on
this but the end result is well worth it. Oh, and be
prepared to go slow and your arms may feel a little
discomfort.
Are you a
FABRIHOLIC……..n: One who can’t control the urge to buy fabric they
don’t have a project for. Again.
Are you
