land. Its appearance, strong structures, optional accessories

and energy-efficiency make it easy to choose windows and

RISING TO THE CHALLENGEThe Varma range includes windows and doors

for repairing the old as well as for building new.

The selection includes two window models:

triple-glazed opening Varma window and Varma

Fixed. The extensive door range includes

products from external doors to trendy sliding

doors.

ENERGY-SAVING

Pihla Varma is an inward opening, MSE type,

double-sash wood-aluminium window. Due

to the energy-efficient glazing and excellent

sealing, Varma has one of the best energy

ratings. Pihla Varma is available with a U-value

of as little as 0.81, when the frame depth is

210 mm and special low-emissivity glass is

selected.

A PIONEER IN TIGHTNESSVarma has three sealing surfaces: two seals in

the inner sash and one in the outer sash. Var-

ma has achieved top results in air-tightness,

water-tightness and wind-pressure resistance

tests. Varma is neat and elegant as well as

tightly sealed and reliable.

STURDY AND DURABLEThe solid woodwork of the frames and sashes

is equipped with traditional, durable joints.

The inner sash, made of pine, is strong and

has a thick insulating glass unit. The alu-

minium outer sash has a steel lock and sturdy

hinges.

INCREASING POPULARITY

The interior of Varma Fixed is timber, and the

external cladding is aluminium. Thanks to the

triple-glazed energy-saving insulating glass,

the window has the energy rating of A. The

popularity of Pihla Varma Fixed windows has

constantly been increasing thanks to their

advanced glazing solution and good energy-

efficiency.

A PART OF THE PRODUCT FAMILYThe fixed window can be mixed and matched

with other Pihla Varma windows, thanks to

their uniform colour selection and frame

depth. The fixed and opening windows have a

clear and uniform pressed metal sill line, mak-

ing it easy to install them side by side.

GREAT APPEARANCEThe glazing uses durable rubber seals both

inside and out. The end result is clean and

elegant but, above all, tightly sealed. Pihla

Varma Fixed has achieved very good results

in air-tightness, water-tightness and wind-

pressure resistance tests.

Pihla Varma Fixed windows can be used to build large picture windows and window walls.

GREAT COMBINATION The Varma Patio door combines two excellent

Pihla doors. Patio has the strong plate-struc-

tured door leaf used in external doors, and the

exterior of the door features the weather-proof

aluminium finishing familiar from the balcony

doors. Due to the aluminium cladding, Patio

goes very well next to Pihla windows.

VERSATILE LOCKING Versatile locking options enable using the

door in different applications and for different

needs. Pihla Varma Patio can be equipped with

a cremorne bolt with a wind brake or a middle

lock used in external doors. Both can be op-

tionally equipped with a lock cylinder, making

it possible to lock the door from the outside

and using the door, for example, as a second

front door for the house. The lock cylinder can

be keyed for the same key as the other house

doors. A similar handle with the Pihla external

door can be selected for a Patio door with mid-

dle lock.

MANY MODELSThe Varma Patio door is manufactured with

one and two glass openings, fully glazed and

as double doors. The size of the glass opening

can be freely defined, for example, at the same

height as the window next to it. Frame depths

are 130, 170 and 210 mm.

Varma Patio can be used as a balcony door, patio door, garden door and utility room door. Patio is an ideal match for Pihla windows thanks to the aluminium exterior. Patio offers the same colour options as the windows.

WOOD-ALUMINIUM DOORS

The Pihla Varma product family includes two

balcony doors with wood-aluminium structure.

The doors have two door leaves, weather-

resistant aluminium-clad exterior and timber

interior in common.

INWARD-OPENING BALCONY DOORIdeal for small balconies or French windows,

the door has two inward-opening door leaves.

The best features of the door include tight-

ness, noise insulation, energy-saving and a

delicate look.

INWARD- AND OUTWARD-OPENING BALCONY DOORThe traditional balcony door has two door

leaves. One of them opens outward and the

other inward. The door provides good heat

and sound insulation.

Pihla’s sturdy and weather-resistant balcony doors are always made to order, so you are guaranteed to get exactly the kind of door that you want. A correctly chosen door makes living more comfortable and practical. Therefore, we recommend studying the different balcony door options carefully.

OUTWARD-OPENINGThe Pihla Varma sliding door saves space and

makes the room feel bigger. The door can be

manufactured up to six metres wide. A window

wall can be extended with fixed windows that

match the sliding door. The Pihla Varma sliding

door opens outward.

SEALED AND INSULATEDPihla Varma sliding doors are designed for the

Finnish conditions. They suit detached houses,

terraced houses and blocks of flats alike. Pihla

Varma sliding doors meet the heat insulation

requirements for new buildings. Their heat

insulation properties and tightness are similar

to those of windows. The inward-sealing closer

mechanism makes the Pihla Varma sliding door

very tight. The frame depth is 184 mm.

SAFETY GLASS AS PART OF STANDARD DELIVERYThe sliding doors are made of heart pine,

which is decay-resistant and guaranteed to

stray straight. The threshold is made of weath-

er-resistant and low-maintenance composite

with excellent heat insulation. Varma sliding

doors have a triple-glazed insulating glass unit

and safety glass as part of standard delivery.

Noise insulation glass or sunscreen glass and

a removable decorative lattice are available as

optional accessories.

The woodwork of the Pihla Varma sliding door is painted with water-soluble paints that cause less strain on the environment. The timber surfaces are carefully treated four times: a protective treatment and three layers of paint. White is the standard colour.

STRONGER THAN THE USUAL

The sturdy door leaf of the Varma external

door has stabilising aluminium sheets on both

sides and an HDF board surface. The outer

surface of the door plate features groove de-

sign with model-specific depth and style. The

design is also available on the inner surface,

depending on the model.

HOLDS OFF THE COLDThe strong door leaf guarantees excellent heat

insulation even in models with glass. The glass

unit is always triple-glazed low-emissivity glass.

The U-value for doors without a glass opening

is 0.73 W/m2K, and the U-value for doors with a

glass opening is below 1.0 W/m2K, depending

on the size of the glass opening.

A WELL-EQUIPPED DOORThe standard depth of casing is 170 mm, the

same as with windows. Doors are also manu-

factured with a frame of 130 and 210 mm. The

maximum door width is 1,090 mm, maximum

height 2,290 mm. The doors have double sili-

cone rubber sealing; one in the frame, one in

the door leaf. There are four hinges, adjustable

vertically and horizontally. The latch of the lock

body can also be easily adjusted.

The Pihla external door has been designed to be sturdy and durable. Pihla’s high-quality, reliable external door remains straight, is heat-retentive and secure and unaffected by even the most difficult weather conditions. The Pihla external door comes with a straightness guarantee of 10 years.

The outside of the Pihla Varma external door threshold is weather-resistant aluminium. The durability is increased by an aluminium wear protection strip on the surface of the threshold.

PAINT The inside and outside surfaces of windows and

balcony doors are painted. The paint used is water-

soluble acrylic paint, with surface emission class

M1. The environmentally-friendly paint produces no

toxic emissions. The standard colouring for painted

ALUMINIUM SURFACESThe external aluminium surfaces of windows and patio doors are powder-coated. In addition to the four standard col-

ours, aluminium profiles can also be delivered anodised. The opening window’s outer sash and the outside leaves of

balcony doors are also available in two colours; the surface visible on the inside can be white, whereas the exterior can

be the same colour as the frame’s outer cladding.

Glazing selection significantly influ-

ences both the product’s appearance

and its comfort of use. Some custom-

ers prefer glass that blurs the view,

whereas others want to see clearly

through the glass. If the appearance

is what counts most, the glazing is

selected accordingly. The window

glazing selection is primarily guided by

energy-efficiency. There are several

glass options for Varma products.

COTSWOLDCotswold glass provides excellent protection

from view but still lets a lot of light through.

STIPPOLYTEStippolyte glass provides good protection

from view but still lets a lot of light through.

FLEMISH Flemish is clear decorative glass with a

subdued pattern. The glass provides some

protection from view.

SATINSatin glass provides very good protection

from view. This type of glass can also be

called etched, opaline or milk glass.

for Pihla Varma products to meet many needs.

Varma products have an extensive

selection of accessories that can be

installed at the factory. The most popu-

lar optional window accessories are

blinds, mosquito sashes, decorative

lattices and ventilation valves. Door ac-

cessories include handles, lock cylin-

der, kick plate and doorbell.

EXTERNAL DOOR HANDLES

VENTILATION For ventilation, the window can be equipped

with ventilation window fittings, which makes

the opening and closing of the window or ven-

tilation hatch easy and safe, using one handle.

MOSQUITO SASHESA removable mosquito sash, easy to remove

from the window for the winter, is available for

the ventilation window. The screen material is

either plastic or metal. The metal screen can

be left in place for winter.

BLINDSIt is convenient to purchase the blinds at the

same time as the windows and doors, so that

they can be installed at the factory (except for

fixed windows). The standard colour is white.

Several other colour options are available. In

addition to the standard model, an integrated

model is available where the slats can be

easily adjusted with a knob. New! The excel-

lent Vekki blind for balcony doors and fixed

windows.

DECORATIVE LATTICESThe appearance of the windows and the

house can be enhanced with removable

lattices. The lattice widths are 25, 60 and

90 mm. Varma windows can also be fitted

with fixed lattices for the outer sash. Varma

Fixed windows and Varma Patio doors can be

installed with 24-mm removable lattices, which

are only manufactured as horizontal and verti-

cal lattices.

VALVESWith valves, replacement air can be supplied

in a controlled manner, thus ensuring the suf-

ficient supply of fresh air into the rooms. You

can choose from inlet air window and replace-

ment air valves, for which soundproofing and

allergy filters are also available.

HANDLESVentilation window fittings always include a

handle, which can be either straight or oval

depending on the window style. Balcony

doors equipped with a cremorne bolt also al-

ways have a handle. The external door handle

selection offers suitable models regardless of

whether you prefer the traditional or the mod-

ern style. The handles are available in brass,

satin chrome plated and stainless steel de-

pending on the model. All handles come with a

quick attachment pin for easy installation.
