each day the Alpha eta chapter is working hard to better themselves, the brotherhood, the community and the fraternity.

“We have a long and exciting path ahead of us,” said Marcus Kraft, former president of the Alpha eta Chapter.

The Alpha eta house is located directly across the stadium off University Avenue. By Fall 2011 it will be re-painted, re-furnished and have brothers living there once more.

The Alpha eta internal philanthropy will occur Saturday, April 16th and entail a Fireman’s

Challenge. This fun obstacle course will be a competition putting people through the test of being a fire fighter.

Profits made from this event will benefit the Gainesville Fire Rescue Department.

The fraternity’s history is rich in tradition. It was founded in 1868 by six men at the University of Virginia. Over the years, the Fraternity has grown to over 200 chapters throughout the United States and Canada, boasting over 240,000 lifetime initiated members.

It also upholds the largest average chapter/colony size of any international fraternity.

to the history of the University of Florida. Prior to the re-establishment of the Alpha Eta Chapter, I really never expressed much interest in joining a Greek society at UF. After researching the organization and reflecting on the unique opportunity presented before me, it became ap-parent that Pi Kappa Alpha offered both an extraordinary and rich col-lege experience. Ultimately, I decid-ed to join Pike in order to contribute to this rare opportunity presented to me. Not only would I become a member of a world-renowned or-ganization, but I would help lay the foundations and traditions for the future generations of Pikes at The

University of Florida. That is truly an awesome experience I wanted to partake in.

How many members do you Hope to Have by Fall 2011? I would hope to see a our broth-erhood incorporate roughly 150 members by the end of fall 2011. It will be an arduous task to recruit to such a high number, but I am very confident in our ability to obtain a brotherhood of such size.

The vision for Alpha Eta is very bright. With a brotherhood close toexceeding 100 active members our potential is vast. I foresee our chapter contending for various IFC awards and competing for our or-ganization’s most prestigious award, The Smythe ward. With a growing brotherhood and increased involve-ment in all aspects of the Greek community, Alpha Eta is well on its way to establishing a solid founda-tion for its future years at UF.

(Continued from pg.2) all members of the brotherhood. Consequentially, I try to bolster my involvement by integrating myself and others into as many IFC and Panhellenic activities as possible. Our brotherhood constantly moves toward strengthening itself by fol-lowing our fraternity’s ideals and mentalities. My involvement largely stems from my constant desire to better the fraternity and its mem-bers so that we can successfully accomplish our objectives.
