billion acquisition of Dell Services, the largest acquisition NTT Data has ever made.

• Represented a Japanese materials company in connection with its acquisition of a majority interest in a concrete ready-mix business in California.

• Represented a Japanese health care company in the acquisition of the seventh largest U.S. home health care service provider based in California using a reverse triangular merger in acquiring all ownership interest in the limited partnership.

Crisis Management • Represented Mitsui in relation to the Macondo

Gulf of Mexico oil spill incident, limiting its exposure in one of the largest multi-district litigation proceedings in history.

• Represented GS Yuasa Corp. on on the Dreamliner battery failure crisis.

Energy and Infrastructure • Represented Toyota Tsusho Corp.’s investment

in a 725 MW natural gas-fired power plant in the U.S.

• Represented JX Nippon Oil & Gas Exploration Corp. on the development of the $1 billion JBIC-financed carbon capture sequestration and enhanced oil recovery project at the W.A. Parish power plant in Texas.

• Represented a Japanese oil & gas company on an enhanced oil recovery project in the Middle East.

• Represented a Japanese trading house on its investment in the chemicals sector in India.

• Represented Sumitomo Chemical’s & Saudi Aramco’s development and expansion of multibillion dollar integrated refining and petrochemicals Rabigh II Complex (MEA Petrochemical 2015 Deal of the Year, PFI magazine).

• Represented a large Japanese nuclear energy company in connection with its worldwide joint venture alliance with a prominent French nuclear company.

• Represented a major Japanese manufacturing company and several of its U.S. subsidiaries in an ICC arbitration in California that stems from a claimed failure of certain critical components manufactured and supplied by our clients for Southern California Edison’s San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS).

Intellectual Property • Represented a global Japanese sports brand

in enforcing a patent and defending the patent in IPR.

• Represented a major optics products manufacturer on patent litigation brought by a non-practicing entity.

• Represented a Japanese chemical manufacturer in connection with a claim for theft of trade secrets. Successfully settled the case.

• Represented a Japanese company and other defendants in a patent and trade secret litigation relating to semiconductor manufacturing equipment components.

• Represented an industrial light fixture company in non-infringement and related claim construction in a patent case. Obtained summary judgment for our client.

• Represented Japanese petrochemical manufacturers in the formation of a three-party joint venture company in Texas with a U.S. competitor for the manufacture and marketing of rubber additive products.

• Represented a U.S. subsidiary of a Japanese tire manufacturer in establishing a multi-billion-dollar credit line from a Japanese bank.

Litigation, Arbitration and Antitrust • Represented a major Japan-based

manufacturing company in a cross-licensing dispute before the ICC Court of Arbitration in Switzerland concerning nuclear technology licensing agreements with claims that exceeded $500 million.

• Represented a Japanese electronics company in an antitrust lawsuit involving liquid crystal display panels.

• Resolved a dispute between a Japanese technology company against a major Internet search provider by obtaining a temporary restraining order and a preliminary injunction.

• Represented a major Japanese electronics manufacturer in twin nationwide class actions claiming more than $200 million in damages for allegedly false representation of the battery life of notebook computers.

• Represented a client in a lawsuit in Japan against former employees for breach of fiduciary duty.

• Represented a Japanese automotive parts manufacturer in connection with a claim for reimbursement of recall-related costs. Successfully settled the matter through mediation.
