*Main assumptions of the heritage protection

• A very wide character including all cultural environment

• A modern concept of heritage treatment (very wide activities are acceptable – not only static conservation)

• What can be treated as heritage, is treated as heritage (heritage is not limited to elements under forms of conservation protection used until recently

Active character of the heritage protection system

• Heritage protection system must be active – it cannot

be limited only to passive protection (supervision of

reported problems).

• Administrative protection is not sufficient – the system

has to secure financial, organisational, legal, technical,

administrative and promotional support.

• Creation of active heritage protection system is

possible only based on a selg-government conservation

services. Supervision functions maintain in

management of national services

stakeholders during the joint determination of principles

of using the public space in the historic areas of Lublin.

areas of Lublin was to be a direct result of the action.

The most important features of the project:

* direct cooperation with stakeholders

* building a support group

* educational activities (organized exhibition)

* co-operation with schools

* using workshops as important tool

*Conducting activities at different levels with many

different stakeholders. Direct contacts are essential

for the project success. People want to talk but

they have to feel like partners.

*Educational activities. It is necessary to involve also

young people and children because thay will be

mostly influential in the future.

*Building platforms where people can communicate

and discuss relevant problems (using social media).

Talk to people on their premises and leave your office

Involve young people and children; they are open for a change

Make plans but be flexible

Use social media and alternative means of communication

Involve professionals (a support group)

Involve (or at least inform) your politicians

*The pilot action will definitely be continued:

*I recommend the pilot project to all who want

to raise awareness of heritage issues among

different groups of stakeholders and to those

who want to build atmosphere of a friendly co-

operation between people and officials.
