The Obvious Choice for Personal GPS Tracking & Location Devices

Pin Point specialise in providing personal location and tracking devices which use GPS technology to accurately report the position of the wearer.

Advances in GPS technology can give a range of benefits to a variety of groups within our society, giving greater freedom to the elderly, children and other vulnerable groups as well as providing additional security to loan workers.

Our service options have been selected to enable our customers to meet their individual requirements, whilst staying within an affordable budget.

This combination will give the wearer a greater sense of freedom with the knowledge that they can be quickly located in an emergency situation, whilst providing employers and carer’s greater piece of mind and reduced anxiety.

Vulnerable Groups

At Pin Point we understand the dilemma carers and families face when balancing freedom with security. In many cases the risk outweighs the freedom and people are often placed into homes or other secure environments, despite them wanting to stay in their own home and live as normal a life as possible.

There are a number of devices available for home monitoring, but our devices allow the wearer to remain more active outside the home, which in some cases can lessen the onset of an illness.

Pin Point bring you assistive technologies that can be used as security devices outside the home.

Devices which have many features, including the ability to raise an SOS alert at the push of a button, if they find themselves in a difficult situation. As well as alerting you if they leave their home or a wider area set by yourself.

Two-way communication with the wearer can be engaged just as easily, just like a mobile phone and combined with our Online Real-time Tracking Solution you can monitor the wearer’s position on a detailed map, as they are moving about outside the home.

Keeping those you love safe from harm without compromising their freedom or independence.

Parents for Children

The safety and security of our children is a top priority for parents, but balancing this with your child’s liberty can be a challenging dilemma. Many parents feel the same way and although the risk of abduction remains tiny in Britain, our fears are preventing children from having the freedom of adventure we had. This has lead to increasing concern over our children’s social interaction, as identified by the Children’s Society’s ‘Good Childhood Inquiry’.

They find that modern children are likely to be risk-averse, stifled by fears which are more phobic than real. Their lack of unsupervised play may also reduce the opportunity to form deep friendships in early years. Their studies found that children whose early friendships are full of shared imaginative play develop a sensibility by discussing moral dilemmas and learning to understand the feelings, welfare and relationships of other children.

Pin Point bring you an ideal solution to the problem of balancing freedom with security. We offer a range of devices which can be used in conjunction with your children to give them the freedom they often crave, balanced with the knowledge that they can contact you and you can find their location quickly at all times.

Keeping those you love safe from harm without compromising their freedom or independence.

Lone Workers

Protection of the 2.5 million lone workers in the UK is proving to be extremely difficult for UK employers as they increasingly face litigation for failure to provide adequate provision in the event of an employee’s safety being compromised.

Whilst it may be impossible to prevent all the risks they face, providing them with the means to easily send out a distress alert and/or be quickly located in an emergency situation, must be one of the most effective risk reducing measures available.

Pin Point offer a range of products and services designed to do just this; our products boast features such as SOS alert and the ability to open up a two-way communication channel. We will design a service package to suit your business needs whilst working within your budget constraints.

Our prices are highly competitive and when compared with the possible cost savings that could be gained by reductions in staff turnover, time off work, litigation and insurance costs, it becomes a question of why not.

Reduce the risk of harm to your employees with quick find and open communication channels.

How does it work? Our GPS tracking devices use the Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine the precise location of the person wearing the device. This information is then transmitted to our Online Tracking Solution, using the mobile phone (GPRS) network. This allows the wearer’s location to be displayed on a detailed map in real-time or requested by SMS.

These devices are known as data pushers, as it pushes (sends) the position of the device, at regular intervals, to a determined server, which can instantly analyse the data.

• GPS co-ordinates • Time • Date • Speed

This makes our products an ideal choice for those with conditions which cause them to wander, such as Alzheimer’s, to allow children freedom whilst reducing parent’s anxiety or as additional security for lone workers, reducing their risk of harm. In all cases, the safety and security of the wearer is improved as their position can be quickly obtained when needed.

In the NewsCharities backs dementia tagging

Proposed electronic tagging of people with dementia, with their agreement, has been backed by a charity. The Alzheimer’s Society said the plan could empower patients by allowing them to wander, but called for a debate on the ethics of gaining consent. Many people with dementia feel compelled to walk about outside - the society says 60% may wander, and 40% have got lost at some point. The government has said tagging could allow people to lead “fuller lives”.

Careful balance

Science Minister Malcolm Wicks first proposed the measure in April. He said people with dementia would gain the freedom to “roam around their communities” without their families suffering the anxiety that such wandering can currently cause. The chief executive of the Alzheimer’s Society, Neil Hunt, agrees that the technology “could offer benefits to people with dementia and their carers”.

Elizabeth McLennan, policy officer for Help the Aged, said electronic tagging was a good idea in principle “But it must always be determined by choice - it cannot be the case that a diagnosis automatically goes hand in hand with a tag… If older people get confused and wander off it can put them in danger and cause a huge amount of distress and worry for their family. Tagging could potentially allow people with dementia the chance to retain their freedom and help to keep them safe at the same time.”

There are currently 700,000 people living in the UK with some form of dementia. This is predicted to reach 1.7m by 2051.

Young ‘not allowed out to play’

Many parents are denying their children the same freedom to go out unsupervised as they enjoyed, because of fears for youngsters’ safety, a survey suggests. Some 43% of 1,148 adults quizzed for the Children’s Society said children should not be allowed out with friends until they were 14, but most said they had been allowed out without supervision aged 10 or younger.

The charity said spending time with friends was fundamental to children’s well-being and development.

Isolation warning

The survey was part of the charity’s Good Childhood Inquiry - a series of reflections on childhood, experts told the inquiry of the importance of letting children have the freedom to play independently and make friends.

“ On the one hand we want freedom for our children but on the other we are becoming increasingly frightened to let them out ”Bob Reitemeier, Children’s Society.

Children said having lots of friends and being able to spend time with them were central to having a good childhood, chief executive of the Children’s Society Bob Reitemeier said:

“Children have told us loud and clear that friendship matters and yet this is an area in which we appear to be failing them... as a society we are in a real quandary. On the one hand we want freedom for our children, but on the other we are becoming increasingly frightened to let them out.”

He added:

“If we go too far down the road of being over-protective and not allowing children to explore, to play, to be up with their peers, but also with children of other ages, then we may be influencing the way in which they look at society and social interaction later on.
