Please contact the nearest PerkinElmer sales office or sales representative for details. Spectrometer Features. All PerkinElmer Atomic Absorption Spectrometers described in this listing provide the following features in addition to the specific features described for each model unless otherwise noted in the descriptions of the individual spectrometers. Read times are operator-selectable from 0.1 to 120 seconds in increments of 0.1 second. Peak area (integrated absorbance) and peak height measurement modes are standard. Statistics are included with the ability to take up to 99 readings and average them with display of the average and the standard deviation and/or relative standard deviation. Also includes automatic zero calibration and concentration calibration with up to 30 standards based on a linear least squares fit, a two-coefficient equation, or a three-coefficient equation; or operator selection of a standard additions method or a standard additions calibration method. The calibration curve can be resloped with a single operator-selected standard. Automatic gain control is included and Automatic Intensity Control is included with the Continuum Source Background Corrector All PerkinElmer flame AA instruments include a premix burner system. This high strength, inert plastic burner chamber is angled for proper drainage. For safety, separate fuel and oxidant gas lines are included plus an additional inlet for auxiliary oxidant flow. The burner mount is adjustable. Also included with the burner system are an adjustable nebulizer and an all-titanium, 10-cm single-slot burner head for air-acetylene operation. PerkinElmer AA Spectrometer Gas Controls all include flow control for air, nitrous oxide and acetylene and automatic flame ignition. All provide automatic sequencing of gases when lighting or extinguishing a nitrous oxide-acetylene flame (even in the event of power failure), burner head and nebulizer interlocks, flame sensing, pressure sensing, flow sensing , and a burner drain interlock. Note: A complete PinAAcleTM 900T, 900Z, and 900F requires a spectrometer, an appropriately configured controller assembly, WinLab32™ operating software, and a printer for permanent logging of analytical results and report generation.

Common to the PinAAcle 900F/900Z/900T: Full control of the spectrometer and optional accessories such as flow injection systems, AutoPrep 50, graphite furnace and furnace autosampler is via an industry standard PC using PerkinElmer WinLab32™ software running under the Microsoft® Windows™ 7 operating environment. All the PinAAcle atomic absorption spectrometers incorporate an innovative optical system based on fiber optics, reducing the number of optical components, in a compact configuration. The fibers have been optimized to provide high transmission for the entire wavelength range of interest. The computer provides single keyboard control. Lamp alignment is automatic and when used with PerkinElmer Lumina™ lamps, the PinAAcle will automatically set lamp current, wavelength and slit. A universal adapter for uncoded Intensitron lamps (N305-0197) or for coded Intensitron lamps (N305-0196) may also be used, albeit with the loss of automatic element recognition. WinLab32 for AA Software (required for operation, but not included) redefines the software standard for high-performance atomic absorption instruments. Designed for the rigorous needs of today’s analytical laboratory, WinLab32 for AA’s elegant toolbox-style software gives you all the flexibility and power you need in an easy to use, easy to learn package. WinLab32 for AA combines flexibility and ease of use to bring a new level of laboratory productivity. WinLab32 was designed to be easy to learn and use. WinLab32 includes wizards for step-by-step instructions for complex tasks, extensive multi-language Tool Tips, Status Panels to display the status of each instrument component and an Analysis List that combines standard, sample and

method information into one list, showing exactly the order of analysis. Best of all, WinLab32 for AA shares a common look and feel with the WinLab32 for the Optima ICP instruments making cross-platform training easier than ever. WinLab32 has the features needed to get the most productivity possible including: WinLab32 Offline for creating methods, entering sample data or reviewing or reprocessing data without interrupting the active analysis, Recall Calibration for eliminating the need for initial calibration and Edit Calibration for complete control over the calibration curve prior to sample or QC analysis. With Priority Sample and Append to Analysis List, samples can be added any time without interrupting the current analysis. Furnace Method Development automates the process required to determine the best furnace analytical conditions for sample analysis. Data are stored in an industry-standard, commercially available database library format (Microsoft Access software) that is compatible with a wide variety of off-the-shelf programs. WinLab32’s Data Manager permits data reporting, exporting to a LIMS, archiving, restoring as well as database maintenance functions such as copy, delete, and data set renaming.

Reprocessing doesn’t change the stored data, but rather new data are written to the database with an appropriate notation.

QC charting capability allows the users to quickly and easily prepare Qualtiy Control charts for QC samples, standards, blanks or any samples over pre-defined Limits ranges. Means, or expected values can also be plotted on a chart, and these can be exported as ASCII data for use with other applications.

WinLab32 is fully configurable to meet any laboratory needs

including necessary regulatory requirements. WinLab32 includes multi-level users with login/password security. A copy of the method is stored with the results and WinLab32 even “signs” its data during storage.

The optional Enhanced Security WinLab32 software adds the additional capabilities needed for regulatory requirements such as 21 CFR Part 11 including a Master Event Log that records actions performed by the user, Version numbers of all files and data sets and Options to prevent analyses without data storage.

Recommended Minimum PC Configuration: Lenovo ThinkCentre® PC; 3.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor; 1333 MHz or higher; 4 GB RAM, non-EEC, 1066 MHz, DDR3, 2 x 2GB, 4 DIMM slots; 8 USB 2.0, 1 Ethernet, 2 serial, 1 VGA interfaces; 1000 GB hard disk drive; DVD+/-RW SATA drive; SVGA graphics board and compatible 17” monitor; MS mouse; Windows 7 Professional (64-bit).

Furnace Autosampler: Standard with all versions of the PinAAcle 900Z/900T. Installed in front of the furnace unit. Removable sample tray with 88 and 148 sampling positions for sample and reference solutions and 1 overflow container for pipet washing. Minimum sample requirement is about 0.1 mL. Dispensable sample and reagent volume is 1-99 µL, selectable in increments of 1 µL. Flushing volume 1.3 mL, fixed. The autosampler is powered from the spectrometer and is software-controlled.

Specific to the PinAAcle 900F: The PinAAcle 900F is designed for optimized, cost-effective, automatic flame atomic absorption analyses. Standard features include complete system control from a single keyboard; automated burner assembly position optimization as well as the flame gas flows optimization from the WinLab32 for AA software; lamp holder with built-in power supplies for hollow cathode and electrodeless discharge lamps (EDL) and automatic lamp selection and alignment. High light throughput, true ‘real-time’ double beam optical system with a dual-blazed grating monochromator for optimized performance over the entire AA wavelength range. The optical system is fully enclosed with covers, further protecting against dust and corrosive atmospheres.

Feature our unique quick-change burner assembly module that requires no gas lines connection. Interchanging of this sample introduction module is easy and fast. The module includes our standard 10cm all-solid titanium burner head, the burner chamber, the durable stainless steel nebulizer(SSN) or the high sensitivity corrosion-resistant nebulizer(HSN) with its accompanying end-cap. The PinAAcle 900F is also directly compatible with the optional Flow Injection mercury/hydride systems, and automatic dilution AutoPrep 50 system. Background correction is performed, using a high-intensity deuterium arc lamp as the continuum source.

Specific to the PinAAcle 900Z: The PinAAcle 900Z is designed for optimized, cost-effective, automatic graphite furnace atomic absorption analyses. Standard features include complete system control from a single keyboard; integrated transversely heated graphite furnace (THGA) and longitudinal Zeeman-effect background corrector; AS 900 furnace autosampler; lamp holder with built-in power supplies for hollow cathode and electrodeless discharge lamps (EDL) and automatic lamp selection and alignment. The PinAAcle 900Z is also directly compatible with the optional Flow Injection mercury/hydride systems. High light throughput, single-path optical system with a dual-blazed grating monochromator for optimized performance over the entire AA wavelength range. The optical system is fully enclosed with covers, further protecting against dust and corrosive atmospheres.

The PinAAcle 900T are also directly compatible with the optional Flow Injection mercury/hydride system and automatic AutoPrep 50 system. The PinAAncle 900T includes a high light throughput, true ‘real-time’ double-beam optical system with a dual-blazed grating monochromator for optimized performance over the entire AA wavelength range. The optical system is fully enclosed with covers, further protecting against dust and corrosive atmospheres. Common to the PinAAcle 900Z and 900T THGA-type Graphite: Built-in fully computer controlled Transversely Heated Graphite Atomizer. The graphite tube is transversely heated providing a uniform temperature profile over the entire tube. An external protective gas stream around the graphite tube prevents the entrance of outside air to maximize tube life. An internal purge gas goes through the

graphite tube to remove the volatilized matrix vapors during drying and thermal pretreatment. The two gas streams are computer controlled independently. Pneumatic opening and closing of the furnace for easy tube change. Zeeman-effect Background Correction: A 0.8 Tesla magnetic field oriented longitudinal to the optical path and modulated with a computer controlled waveform is applied to the atomic vapor in the graphite tube. Nebulizers for the PinAAcle 900T/900F PerkinElmer nebulizer assemblies are all adjustable for optimized performance. All include easily replaceable capillary assemblies and venturis for simple, reduced cost maintenance. AutoPrep 50™ Automatic Diluter System B314-0002 AutoPrep 50 Automatic Diluter System. The PerkinElmer FIAS-100 and FIAS-400 are high performance flow injection systems for atomic spectrometry offering advanced automated capabilities that include on-line dilution, reagent addition, analyte preconcentration and automated chemistries for cold vapor mercury and hydride generation determinations with a suitable PerkinElmer AA spectrometer (PinAAcle 900F/900Z/900T). The FIAS systems are provided with one (FIAS-100) or two (FIAS-400) independently controlled (10-120 rpm) peristaltic pumps for carrier, reagent and sample solutions. The digital stepper motor-driven peristaltic pumps can each be equipped with a maximum of 8 tubing channels and can accommodate tubing with 0.13-3.18 mm diameters. Contact pressure on each tube can be independently controlled for optimum performance. A 5-port switching valve permits flow switching and precise sampling with interchangeable sample loops. Carrier gas flow (40-250 mL/min) during FI-mercury/hydride operation is controlled via a flow meter display. A quartz absorption cell with removable quartz windows is included for FI-mercury/hydride determinations. The cell can be heated with either an air-acetylene flame or an optional temperature-regulated electrically-heated cell assembly.

The FIAS-100 and FIAS-400 can be operated fully automatically when used with PerkinElmer computer-controlled AA spectrometers. In addition, a series of standard programs is built into each FIAS system to allow semi-automated operation with many older AA spectrometers without suitable computer control. The standard programs are implemented via pushbutton or remote actuation. For use with the Model 3110, an optional spectrometer IEEE-488 interface (N037-0150) is required. The FIAS-100 and FIAS-400 are equipped with RS-232C and IEEE-488 interfaces, 5 potential-free output contact closures for the control of external devices, and one input contact closure for program start. Each FIAS system also includes reagent, sample and waste vessels, all required tubing and tubing adapters, a 3-m IEEE-488 connecting cable, a 'read' cable and instruction manuals. A pushbutton device for manual program starts is also supplied with the FIAS-100. The power requirements for the FIAS-100 and FIAS-400 are 105-125/200-240 VAC, 50/60 Hz, 600 W. Dimensions are 415 mm (width) x 182 mm (height) x 410 mm (depth), 11.2 kg.

Warranty. PerkinElmer Lumina™ Hollow Cathode Lamps (HCLs) and System 2™ Electrodeless Discharge Lamps (EDLs) are guaranteed to emit the spectra of the element(s) indicated for two years from the shipment date for the purchased lamp or 5,000 milliampere-hours (HCLs) or 1000 hours of operation at the recommended power/current setting (EDLs), whichever comes first. PerkinElmer further guarantees that the lamps will meet or exceed the intensity and absorption specifications to which all new lamps are tested for a period of six months from the shipment date or 5,000 mA-hr (HCLs) or 500 hours (EDLs) of operation at the recommended power/current setting, whichever comes first. This warranty is voided for lamps which sustain physical damage or which are run above the maximum rated currents or power levels indicated on the lamp label. If a lamp fails within the warranty period and PerkinElmer replaces the lamp, the replacement lamp is warranted as stated above from the date of shipment of the original lamp. All new Lumina hollow cathode lamps are equipped with a built-in non-reversible device to monitor lamp usage, providing convenience in monitoring lamp lifetime. This can be accessed from the AA Winlab32 software of the PinAAcle atomic absorption Spectrometers. Electrodeless Discharge Lamps. PerkinElmer Electrodeless Discharge Lamps are usually much brighter than the corresponding hollow cathode lamps and are preferred for detection limit or high precision analyses or analyses which are "noisy" due to weak hollow cathode lamp emission. Electrodeless Discharge Lamps (EDLs) are designed to be physically interchangeable with Intensitron Hollow Cathode Lamps. Their power supplies are built into all the PinAAcle 900 series of atomic absorption spectrometers. Use of EDLs with those instruments requires only the purchase of the EDL driver assemblies for each of the lamp positions to be used. Lamp Coding. Lumina hollow cathode lamps include internally coded information on the element(s) in the lamp, recommended operating currents and other useful information for instruments capable of reading those codes, for example, the PinAAcle 900F/900Z/900T. Adapters are available to allow use of Lumina hollow cathode lamps with earlier instruments using Intensitron® coded or noncoded lamps, and to allow the use of those lamps with current instruments designed for Lumina lamps. With EDLs, coding is implemented with special coded plugs supplied with each EDL. Connectors. Lumina hollow cathode lamps have specially designed "cable-less" connections for direct installation in AAnalyst series AA instruments. To use Lumina lamps in other PerkinElmer AA instruments (or to use older Intensitron® series lamps with AAnalyst series instruments), adapters are required.
