WHAT IS PINTEREST?
Pinterest is a highly visual site that let’s you “pin” or collect images from the
internet.
Users create “boards” to help categorize images and links, as well as add
descriptions to each pin.
TERMS TO KNOW
• Pin – An image or video added to a Pinterest Board
• Pinterest Board – A set of themed-based pins
• Pinning – The act of adding pins on Pinterst
• Repin – Pinning something another pinner already pinned
• Like - To like a pin, but not repin to a board
• Comment – Writing a comment about a particular pin
SIGNING UP ON PINTEREST
GETTING STARTED
•Once your account is complete you will
need to select boards to follow.
• Search what your interests are such
as “Christian Living,” “Home
Décor” or “Technology”
• These boards are the start of your opportunities to repin and peruse
content
TRICKS OF THE TRADE
• Plan - To be successful you need to be publicizing your Pinterest page. Set up Pin It and Follow Me buttons
• Check - Make certain the sources you are pinning are correct. Be copyright savvy and make certain your leading your followers to a legitimate website.
• Strategize – Pin across a range of boards. Add pins gradually, start new boards as necessary. Be creative with your board names, captions and pins.
• Engage - Be sure to like and Pin from sources other than your own - that's how you build followers!
• Photo - Users will see photos before doing anything so use visually stimulating photos.
• Show and Tell - Showcase the lifestyle behind your brand. Pin about your business and others in your niche.
• Creativity - Set up your profile and pins to be noticed. Add categories, keywords, engaging captions, hashtags and urls to your Pins and your "About" profile.
