Piotr Blaut Student’s Placement Report
Kinsale Energy Ltd.Supervised by Mr. Paul Dowling
Control System Engineer
AbstractThis presentation shows the course of my work placement, held in Kinsale Energy Limited during the period from 23th March to 31st May 2015. That was for me a great opportunity to participate in a number of very interesting projects and to explore the both - Alpha offshore platform and Inch metering terminal - processes (including the gas processing, safety processes and also plant utilities).
Training Requirements to Work Offshore • Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET)
o Includes Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET)o Re-breathero Sea Survivalo Fire Fightingo First aid

Glycol Regeneration System Upgrade
Glycol Storage Tank
Bean Valves
Glycol Reboiler
Project Assumptions
• glycol level measurement system upgrade:Glycol Degassing, Re-boiler, Sump and Storage vessels level gauges
replacement with the magnetic level gauges
• glycol regeneration system valves upgradecorroded valves and piping elements replacement
• glycol level data introduction to SCADAlevel transmitter replacement and new P/I and I/P transducer installation
Fire and Gas System Upgrade
http://www.honeywellanalytics.com/en/products
Project Assumptions
• to check are the detectors are in a good visual condition and properly tagged
• to update the Fire and Gas Equipment Layout drawings and SCADA mimics
My Role:• to locate all the detectors and switches on site• to check the visual condition of the detector and wiring• to check the correctness of the detectors tagging and location• to identify and record the detector type and model• to locate all newly installed detectors• to prepare the detectors list and apply the changes to F&G
Equipment Layout drawings • to report the necessity of changes to SCADA mimics

Flame Detectors Cone of VisionProject Assumptions
- to investigate the flame detectors field of vision (FOV) and if necessary adjust flame detectors FOV to gain the maximum
effectiveness of the detection
My Role:• to locate the detectors on site• to identify the detector model • by identifying the direction and angle determine the FOV• to prepare the flame detection coverage drawings for the all areas • to prepare the adjustment suggestions report for OIM• after acceptance by OIM I supervised the adjustment of the flame
detectors • to report all changes in the flame detection system to
Instrumentation Department• prepare the report for Instrumentation Department that provide
data to introduce the flame detectors cone of vision to the Fire and Gas Layout drawings
