RESULT & DISCUSSION EFB consist of high percentage of cellulose and hemi cellulose, lignin and ash. The sugary elements such as pentose and xylose in the EFB will help to attract termites. Termites like to eat sugary food and thing that contain cellulose. Thus, the high percentage of cellulose and sugary composition will be a good material for an artificial bait to eliminate termites. The termites that attracted to the product will eat the artificial bait and bring the bait to their colonies. After the bait is brought to the colonies, other termites will also eat the bait. Thus, the termites will die and the termite’s problem will be solved. NOVELTY & NICHE i. New natural raw material from solid wastes in palm oil mills for pest control product ii. OBJECTIVE OF INNOVATION The innovation is being aimed at finding an environmental-friendly technique and a suitable solution to deal with the issues of termites attack and damages in the country. Using the EFB as the artificial bait for eliminate termites is a new technique in Malaysia. The EFB consists of 70% hemi-cellulose and cellulose, 17% lignin and 1% ash. The rich of cellulose will be an advantage of EFB to become the artificial bait because cellulose is one of termite’s foods.

PATENT GRANTED

i. MY-152854-A - A Bait To Eliminate Termites

INTRODUCTION

PISOPTERA® is the first green technology product in Malaysia and also in the world that is environmentally friendly and very suitable for use in issues related to termite attack. Its production is the use of waste from palm known as empty fruit bunches (EFB). EFB is rich in cellulose is one of the main foods of termites that cause the EFB to be a main element as artificial bait. PISOPTERA® also one of the alternative product to reduce solid waste from palm oil mills. It is an environmentally friendly product, cost effective and easily

handled to overcome the termites in the area. The market analysis shows that PISOPTERA® market is very suitable for use both inside and outside the premises whether residential, hospitality, recreation, farming and

construction.

RESULT & DISCUSSION

EFB consist of high percentage of cellulose and hemi cellulose, lignin and ash.
