For my trailer coursework I decided to a psychological thriller trailer, we decided to do this as it is a genre that not many people do as it is a movie about the mind of normal people who have a psychological problem. As it is normal people it is relatable for the audience which appeals to them more. We believe New line cinema would be suitable for our film trailer, doing research into the psychological thriller history we found that many of the top thrillers were made by your institution. When we found this we decided to research new line cinema to see if they would be suitable for our movie and trailer. Your institution has distributed many other films that are of the same genre for example number 23, A nightmare on elm street, The conjuring, final destination 5 and the butterfly effect. All of these are in the top psychological thrillers and have all been popular in the cinema as making a big profit from all of them. We want this for our trailer as we want the trailer to get a good response and to be distributed by your company as they have produced other films like ours and have also got a good response. As you are an American based studio you can broaden our area which means our film can appeal to more appeal.

The conventions of a psychological thriller would be that it is based around ne main character who has a psychological problem. As the story progresses we realise that the character either is unsure of what he is doing or goes insane. A brief outline of our story is that it is based around a man who has schizophrenia which is related to the theme of psychological. He is married but unfortunately their little girl was murdered but the murderer was never found. As the man is trying to find out who killed his daughter he starts to go crazy trying to find out who done, he uses a shed to write down everything that he finds but he writes on the walls so it is easier for him to look through everything as he is going crazy. A consequence of him going crazy he starts to argue with his wife and as he is getting agitated with trying to find out who killed his daughter he tries to kill a man who he thinks killed her. In the last scene he is in his shed as he is unaware of what he is doing now, he starts writing down everything he knows but both sides of his state to try and find out who done it. At the end we find out that he killed his daughter as he has schizophrenia and is sometimes unaware of what he is doing. We believe this is conventional as it based around one character with a psychological problem, another convention that we believe fits the criteria is that there is a big plot twist as we find out that he was the one who actually his own daughter.

Plot

Our target audience is for both male and female but doing the genre research to find out who our target audience could be the females were slightly higher but 10 %. The age range would be 18-32 as this is the age range that would watch it as it relatable which makes it more appealing. We chose the status would be students or workers as this is also makes it relatable for the audience. The psychographic would be that they like to listen to music and watch movies as this is what the majority of people in our age range do and watch movies to show that they would want to watch this film. As the age range is also young they also will go out with family and friends. As it is a about a person who has schizophrenia it appeals to the target audience as they are fascinated which appeals to them which they would want to watch films about them.

The title of the film is at the bottom, as they are using the route of the eye once they have seen the title of the magazine and the main image they will then see the title of the film article. As the cover is ordered it makes it easier for the audience to understand what's in the magazine.

At both sides they have text boxes with more information about what’s in the magazine. This appeals to the audience as they want to give examples of what other articles are in the magazine to appeal to the audience. As they are using principle of thirds they want it to look ordered and professional so they can also see the main image and titles.
