Genre

We have chosen the genre romance for our coursework, making a trailer along side a magazine cover and a poster.

Target Audience

• For all of our three trailer ideas, our proposed target audience is females aged 15-30.

• For pitch idea three the audience may stretch towards males also because of the darker atmosphere that the trailer will have.

• We plan for all three of our ideas to be left on a cliff hanger as this will hook the audience’s interest and create a excitement for the film.

Pitch idea 1

Our first idea involves a married couple out for a walk, when the best friend accidentally kills the husband when drink driving. The narrative will switch between the happy couple and the depressed alcoholic best friend, until the husband steps into the road while the friend is erratically driving. The widow grows close to the friend, who is guilt ridden and grieving. The trailer will suggest that something romantic will happen between them but it will be cut before the audience sees anything.

Pitch 1

• The trailer will be filmed in multiple locations, switching between the couple and the friend which will contrast their lifestyles and situations.

• We don’t know if the scene with the accident will be filmed during the day or at night, as it will depend on the tone that we want to portray in our trailer.

Pitch 2

• Our second idea is a more conventional romance trailer, with two best friends falling in love over a period of time.

• They will be best friends since birth, and it will show the stereotypical conventions of the romance genre with the use of a progressive romance.

• The narrative will follow Todorov’s theory involving equilibrium, disruption and resolution, which will represent the

• Due to the happy content of the trailer, we will use a majority of high key lighting to promote happiness.

• Also the trailer will be shot in a variety of different locations as this will show the audience the progression of the two characters lives together, helping the audience to create an attachment with the characters.

Pitch 3• The third idea that we had for a pitch is the idea of a romance

gone wrong - where a healthy relationship deteriorates as a result of an alcoholic husband being abusive towards his wife.

• The cause of the husbands changing attitude is to do with a stressful job, he starts to put work life over his wife and their romantic, simple love starts to turn bitter and twisted.

• This idea will hopefully produce an unconventional romance trailer as there potentially won’t be a resolution for this trailer, going against Todorovs theory.

Pitch 3

• Due to this romance trailer being more sinister than most romance trailers, our plan is to use low key lighting to portray this idea.

• We will place this trailer mainly in a conventional home setting so that the audience can see the progressive downfall with their relationship.
