In2011,astheworldeconomyshowedweaksignsofrecoveryfromthecrisis,settingnewlevelsofcompetitivenessinthejobmarkets,theCareerManagementCenterrosetothechallengeofplacingIEstudentsglobally.
Wearecertainlyveryproudofourachievements.Weaddedacorecareercontenttotheprogramcurricula;ouradvisingteamcontinuouslyprovidespersonalcareercoachingandwehaveseenanincrementalexposuretorecruitersallovertheworld.
Withtheaimtotrain,coachandassistourstudentsandalumniintheirjobsearch,wearehappytoreportthatwehavedevelopedawell-roundedapproachtocareerdevelopment.However,thisismerelyoneaspectofthebenefitsthatourwell-equippedInternationalMBAstudentsenjoy.
OurInternationalMBAprogramisdesignedtolimittimeawayfromtheworkplacewhileprovidingacompleteInternationalMBAexperiencewhichextendsbeyondacademicachievementtoincludeglobalnetworking,projectsandbusinessandleadershipinitiatives.Asaresult,92%of2011-2012Graduatessecuredajobwithin3monthsofgraduation.36%receivedatleastonejobofferwhilestilloncampus,and31%ofthesejobsweremanagedbytheCareerManagementCenter.
I.FACTSANDTRENDS
About69%oftheClassjoinedcompaniesintheconsulting,financialservices,telecom/technologyandconsumergoodssectors.Otherindustriesofchoiceincludedenergy,pharmaandbiotech,manufacturing,non-profit,andmedia.Withregardstofunctions,21%acceptedajobinconsulting,27%inmarketing/sales,and21%infinance/accounting.Morethan7%ofthegraduateslaunchedtheirowncompaniesandventuresaftergraduation.Region-wise,whilemostofthegraduatesdecidedtoworkinEurope(38%),wehaveseenanincreaseinplacementsinNorthAmericaandAsia.LatinAmericaalsoremainsapreferredlocationforourgraduates.
Intermsofgeographicalmobility,Asiansshowedthehighestmobilityinthat16%acceptedjobsinEuropeand13%inMiddleEast&Africa.Europehasbeentheregionreceivingthehighestnumberofstudentsfromotherregions,followedbyLatinAmericaandtheMiddleEast.
Thesenewgraduatesjoinedtheranksofthemorethan45,000IEalumniwhoarebasedinmorethan100countries,inbothpublicandprivatesectorsandalltypesofindustrieswiththeaimofcreatingvaluefortheircommunities.

With over 70 nationalities on campus, and at least 50 in any given class, our graduates have definitelylearnedhowtooperateinamulticulturalenvironment.

Entrepreneursamountto72%ofnonjobseekers(7%ofthewholeclass).SomecametoIEwiththeideaofcreatingtheirowncompanies.
Otherscameupwithabusinessplanwhileoncampus.
But,theentrepreneurialspiritisatthecoreofeverythingwedoatIE.Bymeansofthemandatoryandelectiveentrepreneurshipclasses,theVentureLabandrelatedactivities,weinstillentrepreneurialspiritinallourgraduates,whointurnspreadtheentrepreneurialcharacterthroughoutthecorporateworld.
AnumberofthestudentswhodecidedtocontinuetheireducationchoseoneofthedualdegreesofferedbyIEBusinessSchool.

2.CAREERCHOICES
Thediversityofourstudentbodyresultsinaninterestinjobsinalltypesofcompanies,multinationalsandSMEs,privateandpublic,acrossawiderangeofindustries.ItisachallengingsituationfortheCareerManagementCenter,butitalsoallowsustoservealltypesofrecruitersworldwide,makingsuretheyalwaysfindapoolofqualifiedcandidatesamongourstudents.
WhileFinancialServicesandConsultingarestillthefirstindustriesofchoice,wehaveseenanincreaseinConsumerGoods(from12%lastyearto14%thisyear)andinIT/Telecom(from10%lastyearto13%).Ourstudentsarealmostequallyinterestedinjobsinothersectors.
RegardingFunctions,themainfeaturetosignalthisyearisanimportantincreaseto27%inMarketingandSalespositions
fromotherfunctionsotherthanConsultingandFinancethatstillaccountfor42%ofthetotal.Thereforenearly70%ofourstudentssecuredajobwithinthesethreefunctions.
Regardinggeographiesandtakingintoaccountthatourclassprofilehasbecomemuchmoreglobal,increasingthenumberofstudentsfromotherregionsotherthanEurope,sohasbeenthecaseinregardstotheareaofplacement.Lastyear52%securedajobinEuropewhenthisyearthenumberismuchmorespreadbetweenregions.
This isalsoaclearsignthat IEBusinessSchoolhelpsstudentsfindopportunitiesaroundtheworld,bybuildingrelationshipswithrecruitersindifferentregions,facilitatingcontactswithourvastnetworkofalumni,andbymeansofthemorethan20officesinallcontinents.
