Higher Apprenticeships

• Mostly leads to Level 4 or 5 NVQ / HNC or HND /

Professional Qualifications / Foundation Degree (Level 5)

• Usually on day release at a local Further Education College /

Training provider

• Need to satisfy the employer’s recruitment requirements

• Caution – some do lead to Equivalent Level 6 or 7 qualifications

Degree Apprenticeships

• Leads to a Degree – Bachelor's (Level 6) or Masters (Level 7)

• Usually on day / block release to a University

• To join a programme, candidates need to satisfy the employer’s

recruitment requirements as well as the associated university’s

entry criteria

• Will be assessed either using a fully-integrated degree

co-designed by employers and higher education institutions,

or using a degree plus a separate end-test of your

professional competence

Degree apprenticeships are a genuine game changer. In this country, technical and

vocational training has long been unfairly viewed as the poor relation of an academic

education – at least by those who have had an academic education.

…it could create an alternative corporate Russell Group.

…a Rolls-Royce apprenticeship has long been held in similar esteem to an

undergraduate degree course. Thanks to the levy, there will now be a whole host of

such apprenticeships with leading companies, which also lead to a degree.

In time, school leavers will see your Oxford or Cambridge

degree and raise you an IBM or a BBC degree apprenticeship.
