Exciting news regarding COBRA Premium relief from the federal government

American Rescue Plan Act of 2021

On March 11, 2021, the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA) was passed into law.Provisions under the law include a COBRA subsidy structure designed to cover 100 percentof COBRA insurance premiums for employees on their employer’s health care plan throughCOBRA. The subsidy will run from April 1, 2021 through September 30, 2021.

This new law means that the same assistance HealthWell historically has provided in thisfund is now being offered by the Federal Government to all affected Americans.

So we can redeploy our limited funds to areas where patients have no other alternatives forfinancial assistance, HealthWell has closed its COVID-19 Insurance Premium PaymentAssistance Fund to new applicants from March 31, 2021 to September 1, 2021.

For patients seeking assistance for your COBRA premium payments, we encourage youto contact your employer to learn more about the subsidy and to take advantage ofthis opportunity. The process to apply is started and driven by your employer. Should thefederal government decide to not continue this subsidy beyond September 1, 2021,HealthWell may re-open its COVID-19 Insurance Premium Payment Assistance Fund –please check back for updates starting in August 2021.
