RADIATION EPIDEMIOLOGY, DOSIMETRY AND RADIATION PROTECTION CONCEPTS OF ICRP7 – 17 January 2020
The 2-week training course on “Radiation Epidemiology, Dosimetry and Radiation Protection Concepts of ICRP”isjointlyorganizedbytheHelmholtzZentrumMünchenandtheTechnicalUniversityofMunich,Germany,andtheUniversityofSalzburg,Austria,undertheumbrellaofthe‘CONCERTEuropeanJointPro-grammefortheIntegrationofRadiationProtectionResearch’underHorizon2020.ThisprogrammeaimstocontributetothesustainableintegrationofEuropeanandnationalresearchprogrammesinthefieldofradiationprotectionandsupportsinnovativeresearchprojectsinradiationprotection.
Duringthecoursewewillteachtheconceptsanddesignsofstudiesintotheelucidationofthehealtheffectsof low, moderate and high radiation doses by epidemiological methods in suitable cohorts. Presented top-icswillincludemethodsanduncertaintiesofdosereconstruction,thestrengthandweaknessofdifferentepidemiological study designs, use of concepts in radiological protection with some emphasis in medical applications. As usual, we started with warming up, presenting ourselves and the countries we come from. As the Hori-zon2020frameworkprogramme,coveringtheyears2014–2020,isclosetoitsend,weenjoyedthepre-sentationonthefutureframeworkprogrammeHorizonEuropedeliveredbyThomasSchubert fromDGResearchand Innovation.PavelZbornik fromthesameDGpresentedsomeofthefunctionalitiesof theDashboard,atoolreallyhelpfulintheeverydaylifeofNCPs.HorizonResultsPlatformwaspresentedbyGeorgiosLyssandrides.TheaimofthisserviceistoshowtherelevantresultsofH2020projects,especiallythoseresultshelpingtoreachthegoalsofEuropeanCommission,e.g.inthefieldoftheclimateprotection,orenergyefficiencyimprovement.
The interactive part of the training came then, where Christoph Marx from EASME helped us to understand the secrets of evaluation. Very useful practical examples were worked on.
Next day several representatives from EASME and INEA agencies explained the strategy for social media. SOFT INNOVATION PRIZERECOGNITION PRIZE FOR FUSION RESEARCH WITH THE DEADLINE ON MARCH 5TH 2020
Although the last call of the EURATOM work programme 2019 - 2020 had its deadline at the end of Septem-ber2020andwearenowwaitingfortheresult,thereisstilloneopportunityinthenuclearfield.Thistimeitis fusion research.
ThedeadlinefortherecognitionprizeSOFT Innovation is on the 5th March 2020, as usual at 17:00. The bud-get is 87 500 €, where the winner can expect 50 000 €, the second one 25 000 € and the third 12 500 €. For those interested there is a detailed description in 8 page Rules of Contest accessible through the Funding and Tenders Opportunities Portal.
This contest is running for the 4th time in coordination with SOFT 2014, 2016 and 2018 (Symposium on Fusion Technology).
