Container Arrangement Definition Case Study
• The NAPA Contract Design Manager provides functions for quick definition and editing of container arrangements. The defined container arrangement can be edited graphically and visualized in 3D, making it easy to check and modify the arrangement. With the Manager, a complicated container arrangement can be completed in a matter of hours.
• The Contract Design Manager’s approach to defining container arrangements is to first quickly define a rough arrangement by describing starting planes, maximum extensions and order of the bays within the container block, and then to delimit the block with a clearance to the hull surface. The resulting arrangement can be edited as needed to the precision level of a single container.
• This case study presents the container arrangement definition workflow.
• A rough container arrangement is generated on the basis of two tables; one for containers in the holds and the other for containers on the deck. Clearances to the hull surfaces can be applied.
• Figure shows the container arrangement is edited in the transverse section, bay by bay at a time. Single containers can be added or removed from the arrangement, e.g. to increase or decrease the clearances to the hull.
• The longitudinal inner surfaces and transverse bulkheads are generated for the hold areas. The clearances between containers and the inner surface are taken into account. The surfaces are used for limiting compartments for the container holds.
• The transverse frame system is fitted to the arrangement defined.
• The container holds are created automatically and stored in an arrangement. The compartments can be further modified with the Ship Model Editor or the Room Editor, if needed.
• A container capacity summary is provided.
• Designing the container loading can be started.
