Plant and Animals Presentation

Attention!!!!

New Organism Found

Stay Tuned for more information….

A new organism was found somewhere and scientists are in desperate need of your help. They

need to find out where this animal came from and what its adaptations are. They need to have a

detailed picture and diagrams of this organism. To better explain this new organism you will

need to do research about some plants and animals that may have some similarities to this new

organism.

Your job is to teach the scientists the best way to help this new organism survive. You will be creating a

presentation and activity for the scientists to learn about the new organism, a certain animal group, and a

particular plant. (Which means your information must be correct and your sentences complete!) You are going

to do some of the work in class and some of the work at home. You will be graded every class work day on:

staying on task and working. 0 for off task 20 for on task.

Final Presentation: All members of the group will have a speaking part (not reading)

where they teach about the plant, plant process, taxonomy group, animals, plant and

animal interaction. Your knowledge will be part of the final grade. You will make a visual

presentation of your research. Your presentation should include all of the important

information about your plant and animals, and also include at least 2 pictures of the plants

and animals and all needed diagrams. Your presentation will take about 40min to teach

the class and reveal the new organism.

**By the way.. Your group is creating the unknown creature using the information you gather

about your plant & animals. You can add additional features as needed. **

Your group must include all of the following in the presentation: ( ALL must be made by your group, not copied or taken from the internet, NO PLAGIARISM) 1. (10min.) Technology (Google Slides, Prezi, Nearpod, Slide Share, teacher approved Stud. Created video- ect..)

Teaching part where all members of the group have to explain a part of the plant, plant process and animal research information. 2. (5min) Demo (model, display, poster, etc..) – you can bring an item, however part of it has to be made by group members. Gives more explanation to your plant, animal, or animal group. 3. (10min.) Activity for the class to complete (game, task cards, etc.. )

This activity needs to be fun and interactive for the class. Students need to be moving and engaged in the activity.

No worksheets.

4. (5min.) Explain (Reveal) your New discovery to the class and have them vote on its ability to survive. This is done on a poster board and must be drawn with labels and arrows explaining its adaptations. The class will vote on a scale of 1-5 how likely your animal would survive. 5. (15min) Quiz-minimum of 20 questions minimum ( Kahoot, Quia, etc. )I have to have a copy of the quiz and answer key) – quiz has to cover- animal group, both animals, plant, plant processes etc..

YOU are responsible for your grade. ALL items must be completed before your presentation date. This is a long term assignment of which you know the due date. THIS PROJECT WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED LATE. CREATIVITY CAN EARN YOU EXTRA POINTS ON YOUR PROJECT

In your group of 3 to 5 you will research and create the above tasks. Your team has 2.5 weeks to complete the setup for

the presentation for the scientists. Each person is to complete their own research on paper. Prezi or Power Point can be

shared and have all group members names on the project. You must have complete sentences and your diagrams should

be neat and clearly labeled. You have to create the information (NO copy and paste- All text must be typed- Even in the

diagrams) Look at the rubric for a clear picture as to how you can earn an A!

Research Due: _____________________________ All information for the project is Due: __________________________ Presentations will start on _______________________. RESEARCH is INDIVIDUAL grade, not a group or partner project. YOU are responsible for your grade. This is a long term assignment

of which you know the due date. The PRESENTATION IS A GROUP GRADE THIS PROJECT WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED LATE. If there are

certain circumstances where your group can’t present and it is out of your group’s control then the information given on the

information due date will be used to determine your grade.

** Both parent and student should sign this portion, and return it to Ms. Williams by _________.

I acknowledge that the Plant and Animal project has been assigned on _________, and is due on

_________. I know that this assignment will NOT be accepted late. I agree to complete all parts of this

project – 1) Research 2) Help group create the presentation items 3) I will be present for my

presentation day or give Ms. Williams and group notice about the absence before the presentation date or

on the date in case of emergency.

Items that are Required on Presentation… Grade will also be based on neatness, color, and creativity

Title Page- is the cover page that is creative and goes with the theme. First and last names of all group members and hour should be

on this page.

Second page- is a map of the area where your plants and animals live. (this can be hand drawn or a world map that labels

the most known locations for you plants and animals.

Section 1 is about a Plants Process

Each letter should be a different page or slide or circle

a. Picture of and Describe the life cycle of a fruit tree- include a diagram about reproduction, labeling

each section and its function.

b. Picture of and Describe the life cycle of a fern- include a diagram about reproduction, labeling each

section and its function.

Your group will get one of these to include and explain in your presentation. (first come first choose)

Circle the one your group choose.

C1. Create a Venn Diagram comparing a gymnosperm to an angiosperm.

C2. Picture of and Describe pollination – explain the parts of the flower and provide an example of an animal

pollinator.

C3. Picture of and explain the process of photosynthesis and transpiration. This can be done on 1 or 2

diagrams.

C4. Picture of and Explain the process of germination and include a diagram with detailed arrows and

information.

C5. Picture of and Explain the process of fertilization and include a diagram.

C6. Picture of and Explain the process three types of tropism.

Explanations need to be detailed. Arrows need to be made to

explain the flow of the diagram and where each part belongs.

This is an example of a diagram. You are to add your own words

to explain what is going on in the diagram for each process. You have to

add text over the image and put the explanation it in your own words.

Page 4: Plant and Animals Presentation - Moore Public Schools · 1. (10min.) Technology (Google Slides, Prezi, Nearpod, Slide Share, teacher approved Stud. Created video- ect..) Teaching

Section 2 How plants and animals work together Draw a picture / diagram that explains how a certain animal -_____________ uses a certain plant __________________ to survive. (They don’t have to eat this plant it could be

another use or digested by another animal /shelter). Add to the diagram and

write 1 paragraph about the interaction. You need to use 1 of the animals you

researched. Not the plant.

Example Butterflies lay their eggs on leaves and when the caterpillars are born they eat

the leaves. The caterpillars make their cocoon on the leaves to perform their

metamorphosis. When the butterflies emerge they fly off and land in trees with

other butterflies for protection and warmth from harsh cold.

Section 3 Choose 1 type of plant. Fill out the Research sheet for the plant and include the information in your

presentation. Your group will decide which plant to include in your presentation. Each person will research a different

plant. If your first plant is an angiosperm then your bonus plant has to be a gymnosperm. And vice versa.

Name of Plant group choose _______________________

Bonus Plant (optional) ______________________

Section 4 is about Animals

Your group will get one of the following animal groups.- Mammal, Reptile, Amphibian, Fish, Aves

(Bird) , Invertebrate ___________________. Your task is to explain the

features/characteristics that an organism would have to have to go into the chosen group.

Types of invertebrates (examples: insects, arachnids, crustaceans, cephalopods, etc..) You need to include 2 animals with the information that follows for each animal. Both have to be from the

group decided above.

A) Drawings or photographs of the animal. Short video (not You Tube video- other sources are available)

A minimum of 2 sentences for each area below in which you… B) Describe the animal

C) Describe the biome

D) Food/diet

E) Survival:

F) Reproduction: Describe, and if possible, use diagrams, to show the following body

systems for

How does it take care of its young?

reproduction (just note if eggs are laid or if it is live birth and how long the developing offspring take

before hatching or birthing)

Make sure you have detailed information

Clear pictures

Cite your sources

Remember: Your job is to teach about your animal, and plant information.

Make a big deal about revealing the new animal. For fun!!
