Comments: Accordingly, to the Master Program of the Port of Veracruz published 1n 2011, the Port of Veracruz is the country’s largest commercial port and it is the only one that manipulates 100% of the purely commercial cargo and the only that manipulates significantly the most important six segments of cargo at national level (containerized cargo, general cargo, agricultural bulk, ore bulk, vehicles and non-oil fluids). The General Coordinator of the Ports and Merchant Navy (hereinafter referred as the “Coordinator”) declared in an interview to the media on December 15th, 2015 that the New Port of Veracruz might become the largest terminal of the country, with greater capacity than Lázaro Cárdenas and Manzanillo Ports. New ships arrival to the New Port of Veracruz are expected on 2018. The Coordinator stated that the Port of Veracruz will not be closed, and pointed that part of the new area will be used for containers On June 5th, 2017, it was published in the Official Federal Gazette, a decree which expropriates the area of 14,941.94 m², located in the Municipality of Veracruz, State of Veracruz, to be used for the construction of the new customs as part of the works and facilities necessary for the expansion of the Port of Veracruz.
In addition to the above mentioned, new public procurements shall be notified after the property’s expropriation, for a public works agreement for the sole purpose of construct the new custom’s facilities. 4. Energy.
